upgrading OS

I have a 9800 torch on Telus. Since Telus hasn't released a OS update for a long time, i was thinking of doing it myself. I currently have v6.0.0.448 installed. What should I know before upgrade? What version should I use? Best Walk through? If I upgrade, will there be any issues with Telus?

Are you having any problems with the berry? If not, 448 is actually considered one of the better releases.

As for the upgrades - if you want to - take a look at the latest official OS thread for the 9800. There are good breakthroughs in every one of the beta/leaked threads, and I think for the official OS's as well.
