Greetings to all. I currently have an iPhone 3GS and BB Bold 9650. My goal is to carry one phone and find the pros and cons of upgrading to the Torch versus the iPhone 4.

I hope TotalImmoral363 doesn't respond. Can we block him from the thread?

    Thanks.

    Dude (or Dudette),

This has been covered sooo many times......take a look around in this thread and you'll find information. But pros and cons for one person may not fit your own pros and cons. It's your decision - it's your phone - you try it and see what the end result is.

Sell the iphone 3GS- buy the new ipod Touch
keep the Bold 9650 ( this is coming from someone who owns a Torch)..
you might consider the 9780 since it's closer to the Bold form

Thanks Mark and ibcop. My Glock 23 and 27 keep me safe

Here are the only facts I have been able to find in the many threads:

-battery lives are "about the same". Torch battery can be replaced by end-user
-iphone 4 has a better display, but text on the Torch is better
-Torch has the physical keyboard, and some have had issues with keys popping off.
    -antennagate
    -iphone square box car
-Torch microsd option. BB apps take 1/16 the size
-Torch is at the mercy of the RIM network (like all BBs)
    -Torch has better touchscreen sensitivity
    -iPhone relies on iTunes
-iPhone 4 has a faster processor, but the Torch gets it done and no reason for a faster one.

There are some pointed questions I want to know:
does the iPhone 4 (without jailbreaking)

    :have ringtones per person
:can I make all contacts silent but one, like in BlackBerry profiles.
:allow a personal calendar alongside the exchange calendar?
::use a Google Apps calendar without the exchange function?
:allow you to turn off data and use as phone only? i.e. you just don't want to deal with e-mail
    :have themes
    :have landscape sms
    :how slow are Facebook/Twitter notifications

    Thank you.

You can have ringtones for contacts on the iphone 4. Just not for texts messages.

    Don't think you can silence.

You have to have a data plan in order for the iphone to work correctly.

    Not sure about themes.

Facebook notifications are pretty good on it.

I was also going to jump to the 4 but had to go back to BB. I had a iphone 3G. I still have it and use it as a touch.

    Hope those helps.

Why not go to your local AT&T store and give them both a whirl?

And I love my Glocks as well - I have 7 of them!
