So to confirm, an unlocked Torch will work om Tmobile with the exception of 3G correct? UMA and all other features (BBM, MMS, E-mail, social apps) should work correct? If so I am getting one next week. Please someone confirm this, it is important, Thanks.

man you guys need to be patient it will work within 3-4 weeks like me here telus and t-mobile need to do an update on there server to get the full capability of the phone
why people are having problem its because they dont have the service book for the os6 telus and t-mobile dont even have them yet and the blackberry server well at leas for telus is not letting pass the os5 service book on our phone and like the tech told me it could damage the phone since its completely another platform
he also told me that they were getting a small formation for the os6 in 2 week so i guess that telus will relese it in a month or so!!! - 08-14-2010, 08:03 AM

If you follow all the instructions, yes, everything will work. it'll be a two step process. First, follow the crackutil guide to get the servicebooks on the device for full internes access, then find the UMA thread and follow those instructions to get UMA working. It's pretty simple if you're remotely technically proficient.
Btw, even when T-Mobile do support OS6 and have servicebooks for this device you'll still have to do the UMA fix manually as T-Mobile can't activate that for you themselves.

Buying a 9800 online - how do I know it's not stolen and that it'll work?
I clicked on this thread to be sure the 9800 will work well with my T-Mobile service. From what I'm reading, it sounds like it will but that it may take a few weeks for some of the kinks relating to the new OS-6 to be worked out, right? Also, I read that the '3G' doesn't work. What does that mean in not-so-smart terms? Will the phone work slower? Bad service?
Lastly, and most importantly, how can I be sure this unlocked phone I'm looking to buy online hasn't been reported lost or stolen and/or an insurance claim made against it? Is there a chance that when I get the phone that my T-Mobile SIM card won't work in it due to ATT having it blocked or something like that?
Thanks in advance for helping me out here!

What is the difference between UMA and EDGE? I am using a storm 2on tmob andante mind the non 3G but is UMA faster? Can I set up UMA for the storm also?

Uma is a technology that allows all your data and calls to work over wifi. It won't help where you only have edge coverage.
The Storm2 doesn't have the chip to support uma so this won't help you anyway.

I did everything correctly and my TCP settings did not change.
"Also you need TCP configurations in Options>Advanced Options>TCP. APN should say wap.voicestream.com Nothing under user name or password."
I checked mine and it isn't.
Anyone figure out how to fix the damn Contacts. That ATT thing is pissing me off.Morgase

I am still having problems getting the UMA working. I have followed all steps and changed everything that needed changed, but still not working..any ideas? Also, MMS is still not working for me. I send emails and texts just fine, but the MMS is just not working..any ideas on that too?
Edit: Seems UMA is working now after deleting and trying again. I sent 2 MMS out and it seems that they went through I'm just waiting on replies back to see if they did. Hopefully they went through and the problem is fixed.Last edited by GeneGreen23; 08-15-2010 at 01:34 AM.
