Default Trackpad - random madness

Hello folks

This just presented itself this afternoon for no apparent reason; used it fine until about 130 pm today then went nuts.

Basically it wants to constantly scroll down. Every so often, it will open an app.

I tried pulling the battery.

I tried removing the battery and pushing the pad 5 times with it off.

Tried pushing it 5 items with the power on.

I installed the most recent OS 6.0 for this model

No change.

Has anyone else encountered this ?

I am 1.5 months out of warranty so I am none too pleased.

sounds like it's the trackpad itself... I suggest you take it to a reputable repair centre . I've seen that problem with the 9700's and 8520's

Are you under fluorescent lights at all? I've found that the flicker from some fluorescents can cause the trackpad to detect movement and start acting crazy.

I don't use them. My office has them, but I am mocked for working in darkness. I do not like the light they produce, as I find it induces headaches and impairs vision, so I do not turn them on.
