went to local bell mobility store looking for the torch, finally got to fiddle with one. i had asked if i was eligible for a upgrade and the sales clerk had looked into it and said nope lol not until feb 2011. but she says she can give me a partial upgrade discount for $220

I'm not sure if I'm ready to let go of my S2 or if I'm going to like the torch?
is the torch a much better phone/
i know I'm going to miss the surepress.
    thanks

Yeah it's better, a lot better actually. Simple OS6 vs OS5 is a large difference.

You'll miss surepress, but do you need it when you have a hardware keyboard? That's the thing...

    Check out this thread: http://forums.crackberry.com/f209/st...-torch-518564/

I posted a mini review in it, as I came from an unlocked Storm2.

The Storm 2 is a good phone, but the Torch is a better device than a Storm 2. I have trouble considering the Storms Blackberries. Hey, that's me.

Use the Device Switch Wizard in Desktop Manager. That is easiest.

Connect device A (Storm 2) and let the DSW do it's thing. When prompted
disconnect Storm 2 and connect 9800 and again let DSW go to work.
When done all of your data (contacts, saved messages, calendar entries, etc)
    will be copied over.

Imo, don't restore anything past your contacts or messages...

Some of that legacy OS5 stuff can cause problems on the Torch.

Assuming a battery pull doesn't fix it, it might be the sim...

    Try registering the device.

Options > Device > Advanced System Settings > Host Routing Table > Menu > Register Now

    Really? What kind of problems?

I've managed to load all of the data(contacts, calenders, messages, etc. everything except for apps, of course) from my old 8330 without any issues (at least none that I know of).

Don't use the sim from your S2, you should have gotten a new HSPA sim with the Torch. The sim in the S2 is for international roaming only, as the S2 runs on the Bell CDMA network. The number on the new sim should be associated with your account and not the ESN of the S2.

Couldn't agree more... (me and my best friend had a debate just last night on the dropped calls I got with my S2, used on T-Mobile.) Just without the SurePress alone makes the Torch better... and don't get me started on the UMA hack.

also i never seen those email addresses on my storm until i went into windows live messenger? that's where they should be,not I'm my contacts file
