    Default Torch Freezes Up

My Torch freezes up and its been going on for some time now. I always end up taking the battery out and then placing it back in. Its becoming a real hassle.
Didn't think I would have these issues with a Torch. Not a happy camper right now.

If you have not upgraded your OS to either .448 or .450 now is the time to do so. BlackBerry 101: How to Install or Upgrade to a New RIM BlackBerry Operating System (OS) | CrackBerry.com. An upgrade will likely solve the problem.

I was having the same problem. Make sure you have the least os 448 and delete any applications you don't use. I only put back my most important apps like google maps and sat nav. Then I left it for a week to see if this resolved issues, which it did. I then put on apps as I needed them and again used for a couple of weeks before adding more. This way you will probably find out if its an app causing the problem. I've also found that 448 seems more stable than 450, although everyone has differing view on this. Good luck

Even when I was on .246 and .337 I never had freezing issues. But definitely try upgrading your OS. I'm on .450 and have AMAZING battery life.

I use 7.0.0.261 and I still have that freezing problem. I deleted a bunch of applications and it was OK for a while. But now the gunk in the OS is catching up with me again...

Mine was freezing and rebooting when I tried to use the camera. All it gives me is a blank screen and when I switch from camera to video rec it gives me a message saying in could not open view finder because another app was using the cam. Or to close all apps and try reopening. How do I know what version I have and if and upgrade is needed???

I have a Torch 9800, and an Oyster protection shell with a rubber inlay, and had freezes about every ten minutes.

Since I removed the protection shell three weeks ago, I did not observe a single freeze any more.

So my explanation is that the rubber inlay and the back of the Torch device rubbed against each other and generated electric parasites that created an input overload to the touchscreen, as if a user touched the devide several tens or hundreds of times per second.
