Hey guys,
I was wondering if its possible to sync a blackberry with a mac. I'm running OS 10.8.
Download DM for Mac connect your BB device, backup and then you can sync your iCal and Mac address book.
Already got DM. Backup what? Could you please make it like steps? I'm a total noob at this :p
Backup your Torch on the Mac.
I have my Torch synced with the work iMac (i'm home now, on a PC) from memory there should be 2/3 icons on the top right hand side of the DM interface (window)
So.
1. Use DM to backup your Torch.
2. On the first sync, it might recommend to replace the Torch data with whats on your Mac.
3. If you have data on your Torch that's not on your Mac then i would recommend to Merge data.
Lastly you can sync your Mac address book, iCal (including tasks and reminders) and Apple Mail notes (if you use this)
Can sync everything but iCal.
EDIT: I'm using 10.8, this version no longer uses ical, but something else. just calendar..
I'll have a look at my work iMac and get back to you. Ps. Its 07:09 28 Feb here
Synchronization support of BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac
Still at work but the above doc will assist you further.
Is is a somewhat convoluted process, but you may have to turn off iCloud.
Disabled icloud, made a local calendar..nada. This is just so ...hatefull
nvm. Got it! THX
Good new.
For the benefit of the CrackBerry community and to help others with a similar issue.
What did you do to establish the Sync and fix your problem with the Cal.
Jup, maybe make a guide of it.
First and for all, i exported my calendar (right click on the calendar you want -> export) then i logged out of iCloud. then made a local calendar and imported the file. Then rebooted everything (entire mac) and connected my BB to my desktop manager and it worked. Now i'm trying to figure if its possible to sync my icloud calendar with my local...else i will always need to export-import
Situation: New-to-me BB 9800 and an iMac running Mountain Lion
The Calendar was no problem ... its sync worked immediately, even from iCloud-based calendars, which was a surprise given other comments here and elsewhere!
However, the Contacts were not transferring anything at all at first. I had been keeping them in iCloud, so I copied them over to the Mac and set the sync from there. The results are confusing. Some contact entries copy completely while others copy only partially, i.e., eMail address and Phone number, but not mailing address and notes.
I'm new to the BB so this has confused me more than a bit. I had entered a couple of Contacts manually in the BB, prior to installing BB Desktop Software and trying to sync, so I thought that might be the problem with a couple of records, and deleted them on the 9800, did a backup, and a sync with the Advanced Setting checked for Replace all contacts on this BlackBerry device, then synched ... the records are still not bringing over all the information on these two records.
Should I delete all of my Contacts on the BB and try to sync again?
Thanks for your advice :)
That is what I did. The SIM was from my previous Samsung phone and there must have been something going on that prevented the Contacts from updating properly. I deleted every Contact entry on the SIM card and then it updated properly.
In the trials I deleted some entries in the BB [not SIM] Contacts in the hope that they would then be copied fully from the Mac. However, as previously warned that deleted the entries in my Mac Address book. It seems there is no one-way update of the phone from the Mac, and changes on the BB are applied to the Mac first. Thankfully I had all of my Address Book from the Mac duplicated in iCloud so was able to recover.
I can't synch at all ... I have Macbook Pro/Mountain Lion, BDM 2.0.4.18 and there is no way I have been able to synch my contacts and calendar from MBP to BB 9790; have tried disconnecting iCloud, but still no joy - What am I missing?"
New problem(s) with synch - 1. doesn'tt download all of the contacts in the selected Mac Contact list; and the contacts downloaded are corrupted; BB Link has mixed the names of the contacts, i.e. home number assigned to a (new) contact that has the name of one contact and the last name of another ... mess
Clander works fine both ways, iCloud to BB, BB to iCloud
