No. I mean if we already have a contract with AT&T and have no upgrade option just yet.

Judging from the 9700 launch, the 9800 will probably closer to $799 (or higher) off-contract.

When the 9700 came out, I was mid-contract with no upgrade option yet...I was told the cheapest I could get it for was $200 plus the $75 early upgrade fee by 2 local stores...I called AT&T by phone and whined, begged, and pitched a fit until they gave in and gave it to me for $200 with a $100 mail in rebate, and no early upgrade fee, but I had to re-sing a 2 year contract...

At that time I was 14 months into my 2 year contract (4 months away from upgrade)....right now Im only 8 months in...Im doubting this tactic will work again this time, but some of you might be able to swing it....

This device will have the standard "Blackberry" device price with no contract...

    $549 or $599

    Both prices are ludicrous...

OP is wondering how much the early upgrade price will be...NOT a "no contract" situation...

The new handset, the BlackBerry Torch 9800, will launch as an exclusive through carrier partner AT&T Inc. It will be available in stores Aug. 12 and retail for $199.99, with a two-year service agreement. New smartphone customers can choose from two AT&T monthly data plan options, $15 for 200 megabytes of wireless data or $25 for two gigabytes.

No! AGAIN!! For the third time... I'm asking if you ARE ON CONTRACT with AT&T AND have NO UPGRADE option how much it will be. NOT how much it will be with NO CONTRACT.

I think I've made it perfectly clear on the second post that I posted.

If you have no upgrade option AT&T they will charge you FULL PRICE $599!

Does not matter if you are under contract! All that matters is if you have an upgrade option.

This is the same thing as the "no contract" price.
