Screen resolution?
I believe the original leaks all said this was 480x360. Is RIM seriously going to release such a mediocre screen resolution when all the good Android phones of the past few months have been 800x480 and the iPhone HD will be 960x640?

ha ha
Damn skippy lol..........the same ole resolution we've been on for almost like 2 years. Lol RIM is so behind. Screen resolution was the deal breaker for me. I'm not forking over $200 for a device that's not even offering competitive specs compared to other smartphones on the market. Still an interesting device though but I'll hold out for a storm3 instead
QNX and LTE, hand me a pen and let's do this.

It's also a smaller screen from what it looks like....maybe not.
I've sipped many different Kool-Aid's... - 05-30-2010, 03:56 PM #4
Yeah it does seem like the screen is slight smaller than the storm's screen. Lol strike 2

That's the res on my 8900. Y'know, the one I got a year-and-a-half ago?
So if this screen in bigger than the 8900, as it appears to be, then it apparently has a lower res?

High resolution is a marketing gimmick on any device with such a small screen where it makes very little difference (compared to a large HD TV). It only slows down the phone by requiring more processing power (no wonder those Android phones need 1ghz processors), and kills the battery. All for what, so you could read microscopic text or watch movies that look slightly more crisp at double the file size? Movies look great on my 9550 anyways, but that's not its primary use.
Let me guess, 8MP cameras are always better as well? - 06-04-2010, 06:02 AM #7
Agree with Masahiro...
Why do you guys think they are using that resolution? To save batt life and increase speed.
It's like your big screen TV. Would you see a difference between a 13" and 19" HD TV in 720P??? No you wouldn't. You would have to jump to a 50"+ TV to really see a difference by switching to 1080.
I think RIM is doing the right thing, by keeping their unit fast and batt life good rather than to listen to techies that think they know how to design and build a phone.
I can't wait to get my hands on it. - 06-04-2010, 08:06 AM #8
