Screen goes black

So I've got an AT&T Blackberry 9800 Torch, for the most part it works perfectly except for the fact that sometimes It goes into a black screen and then comes right back on. For example today, I used it all day perfectly without any problems and tonight while I was on my way home, I was chatting on it and the screen kept going black with the light going red and the screen went back on and then it keep doing it frequently a few times.

I have no idea what this problem might be, I just don't understand how it just works perfectly and then at some point of the day it just decides to keep going black and back, black and back constantly.. it really bothers me, any suggestions?

I'm thinking proximity sensor. I don't know where it is on you model, or maybe on all models it is next the LED alert. Try wiping the screen with a lint free cloth or microfiber cloth and see what happens. Hopefully that is all it is.
