Reset not working
I am trying to prepare my 9800 for sale. I have pulled my sim and sd card, I preformed a reset:
options>security>security wipe>all that's availabe here is emails, contacts, etc (other 2 choices are blacked out). I type in blackberry>> The phone goes through reset but when I go back in, ok>continue>skip intro>now in set up screen>hit back arrow, offers exit/cancel, hit exit, now if I click contacts a screen says
There are contacts saved on your Sim card. Would you like to copy these to your BlackBerry Contacts? If I select yes, they will restore!! How is this possible if I have pulled the sim and did a wipe?
How do I get these out completely? - 06-24-2012, 07:43 PM #2
Format the sd card in it? BlackBerry protect?

Did you put the SIM back in before restarting the phone?
It may be possible that your carrier preloaded contact info for Customer Service
or other "helpful" numbers on the card.
You could also select NO at the first question and then try deleting any SIM card data:
1. From the Contact list, press Menu.
2. Select SIM Phone Book.
3. Highlight a contact.
4. Press Menu.
5. Select Delete.
As far as I recall you have delete any contacts present one at a time. - 06-24-2012, 07:53 PM #4
Use BlackBerry protect to wipe the phone saves you have done then pull the card. This should work.

You posed this as a question. I think you want to know if the sim was in it during format.
No it was taken out prior to format
All the contacts are both pre-loaded AT&T as well as my entire contact list, that I deleted. I also tried EVERY individual deletion. Went through the steps above to reset system and there they were again
So you are saying put the sim card back in, and use BlackBerry protect? What is BlackBerry protect? - 06-24-2012, 08:09 PM #6
Before adding a piece of software (BlackBerry Protect) can you try this:
1) Put the SIM card in
2) Allow the coppy to happen
3) Delete SIM contacts as above
4) Remove SIM
5) Do another Security Wipe.
If that does not work here is a link for BlackBerry ProtectLast edited by amazinglygraceless; 06-24-2012 at 08:12 PM.

Glad that all worked itself out.

Having deleted all the contacts from the SIM I don't think you will have the same issues.
If you do those steps or BlackBerry Protect will get it taken for you.
