I have found a lot of great tutorials on how to use blackberries as a modem. However I keep hitting snags. I do not have home internet so I can't download the other half of any modem software to my computer. Is there no way to alter the settings?
I have windows vista and ATT. I used to use my impression to get online and it worked great. But I really don't want to have to switch back to that old phone.

With AT&T you have to pay for a tethering plan. You can the tether app but if AT&T realizes that you are tethering, they will add the tether plan automatically.

As I understand it, many have found ways around the tethering plan.
