I'm getting more and more annoyed with the auto-rotating of the BlackBerry 9800, is there a way to turn it off or lock it?

It's been a few years since I've had the 9800, but as I recall, there were a few 3rd party apps that had that function. I don't believe there was anything built natively into the OS for orientation lock.

You don't use the 9800 anymore? Ever since my 9900 got broken and waiting for it to be repaired, I've been using the 9800 as my primary phone and I found it to be (almost) as good as the 9900. Aside from the auto-rotating screen, that is.

I seriously consider of getting 9810 if the 9900 can't be repaired.. But I wonder if the 9810 also got the auto-rotating irk (without no lock option)?

No there isn't unless you find a 3rd party app. I just slide mine open so it's stays in portrait mode.

The 9810 runs OS7 so it may have a lock feature or app that can. You'd have to check in the 9810 forum. (or try Google).

Sliding it open just to make it stays in portrait mode is not an elegant solution, but you're right, it does the job.

I don't have a 9810, what I have is the 9800.

You mentioned in your later post about considering a 9810. That's why I brought it up.

I don't mind sliding it open. I prefer to use the physical keyboard.

But you're right, that only works to lock in Portrait mode.
