Phone won't sync with outlook
Whenever I try to sync anything with Outlook 2010, desktop manager says:
"MAPI logon failed. Please run Outlook with the "Outlook" profile selected and try again."
I don't know what that means, or how to fix it. - 06-07-2012, 11:30 AM #2
Same issue/message here, just upgraded to Bb Desktop Manager v7.0.0.59 and running Outlook 2007. Never had this message before.
I've hotmail and sync contacts wirelessly. I can't sync the Calendar nor Memos. Also when trying to configure the Calendar in the Organizer view, the pop-up windows seems to not work as when I press on OK it just doesn't accept changes and closes down. It looks like it doesn't see the Calendar path. Please help.Last edited by lm28278; 06-07-2012 at 11:58 AM.

Go to Control Panel, Mail. Show Profiles. You should see an "Outlook" entry. It should default to use it. If not, you need to create one and set it as default.
If you don't know how, please look in MS Support site or other MS forums.--

Are you on BIS or BES? Most of the links I found from Microsoft Support show this error and its solutions as applicable to BES and Windows Server.

I've changed the name to "Outlook", which now appears in both "Data Files" and "Email Accounts", is the only profile and so the default I've and still it doesn't sync, same message for the Memos.
I've got BIS. Manged to set up the Calendar, by selecting option "Sync All calendar entries" instead of "Upcoming ...".Last edited by lm28278; 06-07-2012 at 12:53 PM.

You need to turn off wireless sync if you want to plug in your device and sync using the USB cable.
Turn off wireless synchronization - User Guide - BlackBerry Desktop Software - 6.0.0
That link refers to an older version of Desktop Software, but it is still applicable.--Laura Knotek (formerly known as lak611)

Laura, was there not an issue with certain versions of Outlook and some versions of Desktop Manager? I am pretty sure there was. Troubl eis, my ageing brane cannot remember what the versions were.
I have used DM 4.6 to sync with Office 2010 and I have ams used DM 6 to do the same thing.
I also remember reading that when you uninstall DM via Control Panel you also have to delete all the user profiles in order to get a clean DM install.
Can you remember? - 06-07-2012, 01:07 PM #8
There were issues with Outlook 2010. I remember waiting for RIM to release a particular version of Desktop SW, since I was an early adopter of Office 2010 and I couldn't sync.
I forgot which version didn't work and which new version did work.
I always used CCleaner following an uninstall of any version of DM. I didn't install a new version until uninstalling old version, running CCleaner and then rebooting PC.--Laura Knotek (formerly known as lak611)

wireless sync is not the problem, only Contacts are set up this way, and it's fine.
Calendar and Memos should update with USB as the tick box is not shaded (I don't use Tasks).
Everything was working fine this way until I've updated earlier today to the latest version of BDM.
I'll try to reinstall BDM and let you know. - 06-09-2012, 01:47 PM #11
Solved -- In My Case
In my case I had elected to sync the Blackberry Memos to Outlook and apparently that caused the problem. Un-checking that Organizer Synchronization option solved the problem so you might want to check your settings too.
Blackberry has to do a far better job than this if they don't want to continue to lose market share. A cryptic MAPI error because a bad synchronization selection to OUTLOOK is just unacceptable. - 06-25-2012, 11:28 PM #12
I've been with Blackberry for quite awhile. An easy ability to sink all of Microsoft Outlook (contacts, memos, tasks) to my phone, frequently, is vital to me. The upgrade to Desktop Manager 7.0 worked for a couple of weeks. But last night I started getting the MAPI message and NOTHING has worked and allowed me sync Outlook with my phone. Installs of earlier desktop managers, uninstalls, etc. Like most people, I don't have the time to spend searching for an answer, and I don't (like most people) have the savvy to deal with registry changes and obscure acronyms and complex "solutions." I've resisted non-Blackberry phones because the Outlook sync doesn't seem so easy, but if I can't get the sync issue solved soon I'm looking at another phone. If I'm able to sync Outlook somehow with an iPhone or whatever it'll be so long forever to Blackberry. I'll try a few more (fruitless) solutions and then it's on to professional help and, possibly, no more Blackberry.
