Default original service provider

I bought a phone that was blocked. The problem is to unblock the phone I need to know the original service provider, which I don't know. The phone is unlocked to all networks and I have tried every sim in it. However with every sim I cannot make calls or texts. Is there any possible way in how I can find out the original service provider?

you don't need to know the original service provider.
unlock it and you are good to go.

You bought it knowing it was blocked?

Where are you located? Well, more importantly, where was the seller located? There aren't many carriers that sold the 9800. Maybe you can narrow them down.

The seller likely didn't pay his bill and got his service turned off. You *may* be able to contact RIM support with the pin and see if they show any records.
