Default New OS + Storm 1/2 = Non-Surepress Storm Option?

So what do you guys think. Maybe with this new regular touch screen OS we can really play around with the ingredients and use it for our Storms ? Just a wild card but in theory you never know.

what im saying is since this isnt a regular surepress screen and its just a normal touchscreen do you think we could or rim would add a "non press" option to the storm1 or 2? before they had no need but with this new o.s. and phone having a regular touch experience maybe we can use it to our advantage.

I dont know why they dont give that option in the first place. Would have alot more happy customers, ive had a few storm 2s and have always gone back to the iphone because of the surepress

Why would you even want to eliminate the Surepress from the storm? If you learn how it works and use it correctly it works excellent. Opera mini 5.0 doesn't require you to use the Surepress and it's a pain to use and get the phone to respond correctly. Because of that I only use that browser for certain sites. I've used several touchscreen phones and don't care for how they work. I really prefer the Surepress and hope they keep it for future models. It gives the features of a touchscreen with the feel of pressing a button.

    I think you mean a "non-gimmicky" mode.

I think the option for either surepress or nonsurepress would be cool. I, probably like everyone else; gets board with the same thing over and over. This option would keep users interested in their devices longer. ...I think, and I'm sure there is a way to create a way to do it.

The option would be nice, a nonsurepress screen would increase typing output.

No. I'm pretty sure this theory is literally impossible.. You would have to change the hardware. Kind of like how the new Windows Mobile 7 isn't compatible with the 6.5 apps...

No hardware change would be needed to make a non-surepress Storm2, just software. Remember that when the phone is in standby the screen is locked, the "buttons" in the 4 corners are locked. Just need to have the software enable that state for the buttons when the screen is unlocked........and have the OS change to single touch for input rather than dual input. All easier said than done obviously.

How so? I type just as fast with surepress as I do without it. Its not like you gotta press down all that hard anyway. I find myself missing surepress when using other touchscreens. I make a lot less errors with surepress too.
