when using the web browser, and a page loads with a "bing" map in it,
(familymap at att or national grid power outage map for example National Grid) i find it
almost impossible to navigate the map with the trackpad or touchscreen.
they both make the map move, and the window moves with it,
    what am i doing wrong?

Yes I do. I just gave up on it as I rarely use them.

"To view our website correctly, we recommend that you use the following browsers:
Microsoft Internet Explorer, v.6.0 or greater"

It's clearly not written to work properly with the BB browser. Clicking in the map first seemed to scroll the map, clicking outside the map seemed to scroll the page. However, it was erratic. I tried using Opera Mini and it simply said I had an unsupported browser.

It seem to work OK using Chrome, IE and FF on my laptop.

agree on google maps, used it on a 1000 mile trip last weekend and the
traffic feature was great going into/around D.C. only drawback is
it doesn't move your location view like some others, (have to scroll the
    map to find yourself).
feel the traffic overlay was accurate though, watching slow downs in
the other direction of travel and seeing it at the same time.

but, i think i did burn a lot of data, and i'm not on unlimited,
i think over 30 megs each day we used the map for 6 or 7 hrs...
