I know in the iPhone, MMS runs through data. I know this is not the case with most blackberries, but is the torch any different? Does data need to be turned on in order to receive picture/video messages? Just want to make sure, as recently I've been turning data off and have just been using wifi.

Do you think the MMS protocols are different on the Torch than Bold 9700 just because one is a new device?

I don't know about the bold, the last blackberry I used was the curve 8900. I wasn't sure if things had changed, which is why I'm asking.

No, it's uses the cellular network. You'll need data initially to get the mms servicebook though I think.
