I was wondering if anyone knew of any apps out there that would run some other video formats out there. I have a movie in .m4v format and want to watch it on my torch. When I play it I can get sound, but no video. Any Ideas?

Wouldn't be surprised that it doesn't work since .m4v has the option to have Apple's DRM and is non-standard in various ways compared to .mp4... You'd have to verify the file has no DRM to even stand a chance of playing it in the first place.
