Default Norton deletes the file after download

You have to turn Norton auto-protect off before downloading from a mirror site.

Norton thinks it is a virus and automatically deletes it.

Drove me crazy trying to find it.

Downloaded, installed and restored all apps without a hitch. Went to my playbook, hit bridge and there it was. All is good.

I installed a few hours ago & everything is running great! Liking it so far. Just did another battery pull to help "settle" it better.

For those of you that are having trouble finding the os on your computer even after deleting the vendor file, the below directions are courtesy of elite1 that I used from another thread & it works!

"How to Fix OS not Appearing as Available

If you're having this issue, there are 2 common reasons.

The first is that there is an extra copy of Vendor on your PC (assuming you've already deleted Vendor). Search your PC for Vendor. It might appear in Temp Files or elsewhere.
When deleting Vendor, always hold down SHIFT and press DELETE to permanently delete.

If there doesn't appear to be Vendor anywhere, you need to delete the contents of the AppLoader folder. (That's the folder where you found Vendor.)
Uninstall the OS: Control Panel>Programs and Features, highlight this BlackBerry Device Software, click Uninstall at top.
Delete AppLoader folder contents: Highlight any item, CTRL+A to select all, SHIFT+DELETE to permanently delete.
    Restart PC.
Re-install OS on PC: Go to your browser's downloads section, double-click OS to start InstallShield Wizard.
Delete Vendor: Return to AppLoader folder, highlight Vendor, SHIFT+DELETE.
Load OS to BB: Attach BB to PC, double-click Loader (in AppLoader folder, where you deleted Vendor)."

Isn't UMA dependant on your carrier? I've always had UMA on my Torch with Orange UK.

Did anyone else lose all the list of apps on AppWorld? The apps are all still installed on my phone but the list on Appworld has disappeared.

Download speed of apps is definitely faster and so is opening apps such as Google Maps! Love it!

I did initially but after I hit the refresh option in My World, it took a few minutes and they re-appeared

Installed it yesterday so haven't had it 12 hours yet. But so far no big change from 666. (I'm one of those who believes faster and snappier performance after a new install is only because of the memory cleanout and reboot...give it a little time and it'll get back to its sluggish ways.)

However, this is the first time I have had problems with the installation. First, my backup was not restored. When I looked for the file it could not find it. Thankfully I had a previous backup from September so I didn't have to recreate everything.

Secondly, not getting my BES mail. Again, this is the first time it happens.

Hopefully I'll see some improvement in battery life and most importantly the proximity sensor will work on my phone now. Getting irritating accidentaly hanging up on a caller or putting them on hold because my cheek presses the button. Then having to hear them telling me get a real phone!

I lost connectivity with both my BIS email accounts. Setup wanted me to enter the passwords but then kept getting a "not available, try later" message.

Several threads suggested this was a service book issue but none of the solutions would work on the Torch.

I called ATT support (US) for the first time ever. They had me up and running in just a few minutes! The rep resent the service books but also did some "other things". The rep also mentioned that for some reason my email was knocked off the system after the upgrade.

Note: Immediately after the upgrade I had only the default email box on the phone. I restored from DM the latest backup. This restored the individual email accounts but without connectivity.

Agreed. No problems with installation though...as long as both Vendor files are deleted. Upgraded from 668 and not noticing any major changes. Initial observations are that battery life and performance are comparable.

If you have a screen protector on your phone, that's your proximity sensor issue. If you don't have the correct kind, the protector will block it & won't work properly. When I first bought my Torch, I bought the screen protector the store recommended & had this exact issue. I took it off & zero issues. If you are not using a screen protector, then it's a problem with your phone & you should take it back.

    Good luck!

just installed now. @ gameson: BBM is 6.0, so if you have the beta 6.1, its a downgrade.
No wonder it wouldn't download. Never heard of a second vendor file. Thanks for the location info. Gotta download it again and go hunting for that file.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. I don't use a screen protector and I bought the phone last year so I doubt they would replace it.

After doing some additional research here I think I may have isolated the problem. If I dial a number and then place my hand over the sensor, it detects it and the screen blanks out. If I dial the same number using the speed dial the sensor does not detect my hand. Therefore, this seems to be a software problem. That would also explain why I never had this problem until ver .666 which I installed about a couple of months ago.

Hopefully this will be fixed in future leak.
