Hi,

I entered my password incorrectly a bunch of times, and then it obviously wiped my phone clean of my contacts, text/messages etc. For future reference how would I save these if this were to occur once again?

You can use BlackBerry Protect to automatically backup those for free, or, do manual backups with BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

^...as long as your BB is NOT on BlackBerry Enterprise (BES). If you are on BES then most of your settings and data are stored.
