    Default How To Play .avi Videos In Torch 9800?

    i have many movies in my torch 9800 as .avi format but i cant play them. is there any way out to make them play? or any other free app?

    but it playes only some of the AVI files, to rest of them it keeps on showing "unsupported format"

    Check the audio format of the file, it needs to be supported as well otherwise just convert the files to 3gp using any of the free conversion applications.

    That's right. It depends on the codec used to make the avi file. Not all are compatible with each other even within the same file type. There are a bunch that are rather standard and is covered by BB's media player. But if you come across the oddball codec encoded avi, it will give you that message.

    The same link as above includes the supported audio codecs. You can try converting one of the smaller ones to see if it works.

    Do yourself a favour and re-encode your unsupported AVI files with Handbrake (free) to .3GP - that's my opinion.

    Yep that's the only option left now. To convert unsupported video formats.
