    Unhappy here's to you BB

I have had my BB 9800 for 2 years now - actually this is the 2nd one - the other was "unfixable." So a week (unknown to me) before my warranty was up - I went into ATandT - they really didn't help the problem much, but said they would document it -so if i came back in with the same problem - it would be under warranty. I went back a while later (4 days after my warranty expired) with the same problem - we called BB and they said they wouldn't cover it - we had the manager talk to them and everything - they were rude and obnoxious. I have had so many problems with it - it is unbelievable - now the songs i have on there, which i use for a ringtone(s) doesn't work - can they possibly get anymore UNUSERFRIENDLY? I am on here because as a customer of BB, i can't even write an email or post a message to them - so BB users beware......THEY EFFIN SUCK. My contract is up now, and I will NOT be getting a BB - so screw em.

Sorry you have a problem, but the warranty is through the carrier, not RIM. The warranty period is one year, unless you purchased insurance. Don't know why you would expect it replaced now, after two years, for free.

[Sarcasm]Because my contract is for two years, so my warranty should be good, right?[/sarcasm]

MY experience with RIM was also positive, but they did explain to me that the warranty is through the carrier, because of the carrier agreements.

I'm disappointed by this, but they were very friendly and helpful.

Sorry to hear about your experience...I would at the very least contact their PR dept.

In Canada....the warranty is through the carrier, even in the first year.

I had a problem less than a year into my BB 9700 I had purchased with WIND in Vancouver...I paid full price ($500) at the time, and so the phone was mine...not subsidized. I wasn't happy with the WIND coverage, and cancelled my account after 6 months...unlocked the phone for Fido...and used it there.

WIND wouldn't help me because I wasn't a current customer. RIM couldn't help me because their warranty agreements are through the carriers. Thank God I paid with VISA, and filed a claim with them, since they honor and double the manufacturer's warranty...got the phone fixed for free.

That's my story. Maybe it helps.
