After just one day of use. It seems that maybe the should have went for a one piece design... It seems that in ones pocket the lip that is exposed can easily get stuck on something and off it comes.

I'm so happy when the MODS change my post title...

The whole phone has been a failure:
Hizzing sound when you speak on a call
Letters missplaced: L for back space
Clicky sound of the phone sliding system
    Poor speaker phone volume
    Poor battery life
+what we already know: poor screen resolution, slow processor rendering a laggy device.
Pretty sure the list will keep on growing in the next few days.

My buttons are staying on just fine, all the probs you mentioned with your phone can be fixed with a software update except for the buttons/sliding mechanism/specs. Mine is ruuning well got a little laggy with the tool tray earlier when I turned wi fi on but I restarted and its fine. Give the phone time boss

Just returned mine for a replacement because the BB menu key was getting stuck and making a sticky noise. No problem AT&T replaced it within 10 mins.

Yeah, My whole Torch is a piece of SH*T....
The performance is lightning fast. The build is "tank like".
Boots up in 2 minutes. The sound quality is crystal clear.
All keys are responsive. Slider mechanism is rock solid.
The thing that p*sses me off the most is: no mater how I how I hold it, it WON'T drop a call.
    FAILURE, FAILURE, FAILURE, FAILURE,
How F'in DARE RIM have a few bad phones out of a few100k
Think I'll trade the FAILURE in on an iPhone!!!!!
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get a life!! Better yet, go TROLL somewhere else DH. Your act has wore thin.........

This is my 5th bb. I went through 3-9000's and 2-9700's before I got one I deemed "flawless". This is the best, and most productive bb to date, IMHO. I have no complaints w/my device thus far, but if I do, I have 30 days to exchance it for another one "in store", and a year for a warranty exchange.

All this negativity surrounding the Torch makes we wonder if I will trade my 9700 when it gets released here.....looks like I will be sticking with my bold.

At least test it out first. You'll hear far more complaints and requests for help on forums than praises. It's just how it is.

Are you sure you talking about the Torch? Did you buy it? Or your talking with a 5 minute test?

mine is close to being perfect..
i'm still waiting for a case and the privacy screen for it.
People need to understand that out of 10 people who bought the phone..
it's most likely the one with the problems who will search and ask questions in the forum..
i can honestly say that my whole family ( dad, 2 brothers) were lucky to get a good batch of Torches..
we're even trying to reproduce the problems that we see here..
BUT no, we can't and then we move on..
i said this before and i'm saying this again
i am an active and long time member of Macrumors.com
i CHALLENGE everyone here bashing the Torch to visit the site and go the the iphone 4 forum.. and see for yourselves how many people are unhappy and have complaints..( Antennagate? etc)

i hope you guys apply this in REAL life as well.. for our sake for the country's sake!
You don't watch CNBC only.. or FOX only..or CNN... you try to see them all and make your decision/conclusion regarding the matter.

    ...sorry to hear that.

But, I do have a question, when pushing the main screen up to reveal the physical keyboard, how exactly are\were you doing it?

Would that have caused that strip to come off? (just curious)

But, as I said, if somethings not quite right w/it, I'll exchange it.
I love the Torch. It's about the perfect device, FOR ME.

No. It popped off from pushing the bottom of the send key. I don't slide it open with the screen.

For what it is worth I had the same thing happen to my first 9530 and 9700 so it happens. I was pleased with the build quality of both of these phones despite the fact I lost keys when putting in the pouch. Both were replaced nicely by Telus.

Apple sent out there phones with a signal problem on EVERY phone. IMO I think thats worse than all the problems happening with the torch. lets say roughly 2000 out of 100000 phones are bad. Thats not bad on the first release compared to the release of the iPhone 4.
On the forum 99% of the time people are just going to tell you about the problems and ask for fixes. Very rarely do you get people here just saying how perfect something is. Thats why you probably think the phone is junk.

Anyways thats just my 2 cents.

I can't believe Apple ship the iphone 4 with Antenna problems.. and instead of "recalling" and fixing the issue.. they give the poor consumer.. free silicone cases.. WOW!
