If you haven't managed to restore your device, one more thing to check is that the power management is turned off on the USB ports/hub that you have plugged your BlackBerry into.. I had a bit of a scare back in December when I did an OS update with a new laptop and new version of the desktop software and the loading process would either pause forever partway through the loading process (and I got just the red light with a blinking code), or it would seem to complete and upon reboot, you'd get the 507 message.. I tried this several times with no luck, but luckily I happened to be visiting RIM on business while this happened and had one of their guys right there looking up their database and the key was to make sure all the power management was disabled on the USB.. I'm not sure whether it was the new laptop or the new version of the desktop software or a combination of the two, but basically, it seems that there are enough little breaks in the USB communications protocol when reloading software that the power management decided that the USB was no longer in use and turned it off to save power, which played havoc with the loading procedure (no error messages: it either just hung or it seemed to complete, but in both cases, the BlackBerry was non-functional afterwards).. After turning off the power management, the loading procedure went through flawlessly and my device was functional again..
