For some reason, that keyboard doesn't look nice to me anymore!

I just want to get my hands on this to play with it.

I can already see the device failing, think about it, with no surepress you can't highlight anything, which explains the trackpad, but golly, any storm users here? How many times a minute you highlight something and press the BB menu key? That means that if you want to highlight something your gonna have to scroll from the top of the list losing all privilages of a touch screen, it might not seem like much but it will be highly impractical in use and the fact that your limited to hardware when there's software touch available will feel very constraining, I predict high sales with equally high return rates, even for smartphones

I have seen the 9800 and played around with it thanks to a friend who works at RIM. That friend said it was being released for ATT, but was not aware of a release on Sprint (I use Sprint). That said, the person did say, however, that they no longer focused so much on the product to carrier side of things, so it's possible that they just didn't know. The phone is cool and easy to type on, a little bulkier, of course, but the big screen and keyboard were big pluses for me.

RIM has a crazy policy on leaks from within (there are emails straight from the top threatening to fire people), and this is why I am trying to be careful not to disclose any idenitifying info. "

losing all privilages of the touch screen and using the intergrated keyboard that so amazingly slinds out for you. lol. any hopefully your prediction isn't just based on your assumed highlighting functions.

Huh! That it's being released on AT&T and may or may not be on Sprint is not really much of a leak. Not sure why this person would be worried.

Sorry sorry, my mistake, losing all privilages of having a touch screen with BBOS, because the blackberry ui doesn't have the on screen menus and **** that say the Galaxy S and I phone have, we use the BB menu, plus as I said highlighting things on screen is often used in BBOS and since you can't do that unless you go into some special app that you select on screen like in touchwiz which BBOS doesn't have, that's where the surepress and trackpads come in, but critics and people alike will hate the fact that they can't use the phone as a normal touchscreen, and will compare it to the iPhone, and get bad reviews, as always with any touchscreen, except the iphone, as always, but this will have an edge in beign worse than an I phone because it lacks that simple touch screen ability simply because of the BBOS.

And belive me, I'm not an apple fanboy, and I really wanted that phone until I realized how often I highlight things, and I love bb's, but there's the flaw, the masterpieces Achilles heel, I'm actually quiet disappointed myself, but I guess Ill stick to the storm series, I'm sorry but you have to recognize that flaw in BBOS support for touch screens,

So you have used OS6? You must have...... or maybe not.. since the OS has been redesigned for use with a capacitive touch screen.

    Nope.

I think you should go back and do some reading of prior discussions.

Really? So what? Your gonna have to double tap now? Weeee
, or well its either that or lose screen space with the extra buttons on-screen, still storm handles that better with surepress, and I know what happens when those virtual keys are added, I've been with Samsung all my life, touchWiz really messed up and that was one of the problems.

Umm...I have os5 on a 8530 and I can select by pressing the Blackberry button then select. Maybe I'm just confused because I have never used a Storm and if this was a problem I think that it would only be a problem with former Storm users. I'm sure, like Najo said, they would have figured out something better with os6 if this was a problem.

It would be a problem with all BB users and I mean highlight as in highlighting an app, as in you highlight the twitter app and the t glows then you click the trackball/pad/screen to enter app or open options with BB menu,

I am completely confused by what you're saying. Are you saying that you can depress the screen on the Storm to trigger an action? Are you suggesting that because the screen cannot be depressed on the 9800 you can no longer trigger the action without resorting to the trackpad or keyboard? I am not familiar with either device, but I would think that either a double tap or keeping your finger down for an extra second could be used to trigger either the action itself or a pop-up context driven menu. I seem to recall seeing something like that in the videos. Just trying to understand the issue better.

You could do that but people wouldn't like it cause you can't be as fast as you could be

But wouldn't a double tap solve the problem? I can see how it might take a bit of a shift in the way a Storm user is used to working on the device, but it works very well in most other contexts (for example, the way a mouse works on a regular desktop)...if this is the core of your concern, then I think the fallout will be far less sever than you suggest...
