Double E-mail notifications

I am having a bit of an issue with my BB 9800. have one gmail account. Have ticked off in the unified message box that I would not like to show email there. Still, whenever a message arrives, it is shown in both gmail message box and in the unified message box, and for each message arrived, I see that the notifier shows that two new messages have arrived. I had removed and added the gmail account from email setup, with no change.

Has anyone experienced this?

Anyone? Please would really appreciate some guidance.

I have noticed the following: when a new e-mail arrives from gmail, it is shown as a new e-mail in the gmail folder and in the messages folder (despite the fact that I have clikced off to not show message from the account in the messages folder). When I read the gmail via the web, the e-mail in the gmail folder is marked as read, but the same e-mail in the messages folder is not. This is something I can't understand. Hope this helps, and that someone out there know what might cause this.
