I'm using Patternlock (Lite version) app to address this problem. Now, the device doesn't unlock until I enter the pre-defined pattern. You can find it here on CB.

There is nothing you can do with the default lock button. On the other hand you can use a third party app to lock your device and requires a swipe or gesture to unlock. Patternlock and swipe to lock or swipelock(I think its called) are the 2 most people are using.

I hear you. That lock button is misleading and too sensitive.

Storm Slider lite is also a good app for this.

Scrappertoronto, I use S2Unlock which is a slider similar to androids and iPhones. It works on top of the device lock so you have options. I can't remember if it was free or low cost but I highly recommend it. It allows you to put wallpaper on it as well, so when the slide lock is enabled, it will show the wallpaper you choose, if you don't like the one provided. You can enable it or disable it depending on your need and it has a lot of options to choose from. Check it out on App World and good luck.
