The same purpose you had for asking me this question. And if I must, it was to bid farewell to another sheep joining the pathetic android herd. Did that satisfy your curiosity or are you here to defend a subject that has no real reason in this forum? If so, don't bother.

Have fun with your Android. It never hurts to try something new. Since I had my last BlackBerry (Storm 2) I've had an iPhone 3Gs, a Samsung Captivate, and iPhone 4 and now I'm waiting impatiently for the Fed Ex man to bring me a Torch! Variety is the spice of life, right? The nice thing is you can always come back if you want to!

No, our motives weren't the same. I'm curious as to why you called the OP a loser for going to a different phone?
Why read threads and post in threads that obviously get you so upset that you lash out at someone you don't know? Would you call them a loser to their face?

Agreed! It's nice to be able to try different platforms, compare and see what suits you best! I've used iPhone lightly (my parents have one) and BlackBerry for three years. Interested in trying Android.
Too bad they don't all combine into one super smart phone with all features included!

that pretty much sums it up!

If only some of us could go through so many devices but choice is always good since how are we to know any better if we don't at least consider it?
I do have to agree though that this thread was pointless (personally, i thought the reasons behind it a little weak since you already made your point in another thread) because unlike the original poster, people do actually enjoy the torch and blackberries in general. With threads like this, you'll have the same old faces having another crack at BB users for reasons I dont really care to explore.Last edited by zensen; 02-08-2011 at 09:22 AM.

I had a Captivate and I have to say Android isn't that great. My biggest thing is they die so damn fast. My torch can make it through 2 days easy (though I charge it every night) when I had the captivate it would be at 20% by 5pm with light usage
Good luck with the switch though

Oh come on, I want a chance to post my farewell thread too!
I agree that this post should have been made in the Android section of CrackBerry. I don't think any thread is really pointless though. It's a forum for discussion. The name calling is what I find pointless. At least back it up with why you prefer one phone over another, minus the name calling! Lol

can't we all just get along... different strokes for different folks.. i stopped arguing with people why i like my blackberry better then the others! i use my blackberry the way i do and it meets my needs!
it might not meet the needs of other people!! honestly Android is a good platform.. if anything we should be flaming the iphones! haha jk..
i know people that use candy bar phones still and it works perfectly for them.
so OP i know you'll enjoy your new android it's a good device..
yah gtalk is good .. but msn can replace bbm as well, so can whatsapp and kik... but people still prefer bbm over those.. i do! it's cleaner and more secure..
jailbreaking on a iphone can only happen because of one reason!! it's security is FLAWEDD.. the fact you can FTP into an iphone with the SAME generic password and username is kinda iffy! all you need is their IP Address! the amount of personal info you have on your phone is crazy..
android is much better, but the control Google has, i.e YOU NEEEEED a gmail account to activate the phone, some people might find this "whatever" .. but why? the customizations you can do with the ROM's and rootings for the androids are great.. I just can't stand not having a physical qwerty... i had both the iphone and G1 and i still prefer my blackberry...Last edited by knowledge_6; 02-08-2011 at 09:46 AM.

I don't argue or name call. It's just talk and debate which I love. You have good points listed above!
For me, I only have one email addy which is a gmail. I use Google Voice, Talk, Maps, Latitude, Search, Sync. It just makes sense for me to go with a Google powered phone.
I use my phone in place of a PC. I want a great browser. That leaves BlackBerry out for now. Maybe in the future. I like BlackBerry OS and how it's set up how I think, in list form. But Android will probably suit me better at this point.
I'll probably never load a custom ROM on my Android phone just like I never loaded an unofficial VZW carrier
OS.
Plus, I want a huge screen! I use my phone to keep in touch with friends and family all over. Via youtube, videos, email, messaging. Video chat will be useful for that.
As for BBM...there's so many alternatives to that that it's not a selling point for me. Gtalk is the same as BBM. It's a secure as BBM, but I don't think my convos are a matter of national security anyway.
I've never been too concerned with security. I take common sense prevention measures. If one is really concerned with security then one should probably not use the internet, GPS or cell phones at all. Not saying you, just in general.
I'm always surprised people say they hate Androind and Google OS. I bet a hundred bucks all those same folks use Google search everyday!

Good luck with the HTC, it's an awesome device. If not for BBM, I would be on the HTC right now. I love that platform, jealous.

Not true. All these brands go across all demographics now. As smartphones become mainstream peope will buy what they like. Define an "intellectual" blackberry user. I see several teens, grandmas and grandpas using BB, android, iphone etc.
No offense but your post was a little snobbish.
Anyways people need to just buy what they want and not make a big issue about it. If the phone works for you thats all that matters. I dont see the need to put down people for the damn phone that they use. - 02-08-2011, 12:01 PM #41
Yes, having a real keyboard when you want it is just so awful. And if you find it so utterly unbearable to use, there's always the on-screen keyboard for BBM, etc..Now I just find it SO annoying that I have to slide they keyboard out all the time to text, BBM, or browse the web. Also, the applications on the BlackBerry suck. You can't really do much with them. There's no "fun" in it I guess. There are no fun games or apps.

If you don't like sliding the phone open to use the keyboard then I might suggest getting a non-slider phone.... Just a tip...

so you are saying because google did a very good job with their search engine, that everything else should be as good ? are you kidding me ? it's like ASUS, very good motherboard company, but don't buy anything else from them, or CISCO, very good as a networking company, but don't buy their storage product.
No logic there sorry. - 02-08-2011, 01:15 PM #45

. I have just pre-ordered my HTC Inspire 4G due to release this Sunday. I'm very excited to finally have a "fun phone", a phone that I can actually customize (I'm not talking 'hybrids', I'm talking rooting
