    my wife has two 9800 blackberry that have both been tried to update, but after the download, erase, then starts installing new the blackberry disconnects.

    she was told they are bricked?

    I'm a retired IT guy, and I would like a way to fix the problem.

    Can you point the way?

    What method are you trying? BlackBerry Desktop Manager? In order for us to advise you, please be a little more specific about what step fails.
