Good choice in getting the Torch. An official OS update should be available soon. My 9700 found a home with my MIL.

337 was officially released by a carrier this morning. (Not AT&T.)

All OS's are made by RIM, not the carrier. The carriers don't have the resources (or desire) to release every OS, so you're really limiting your device by not going for the most current OS, especially with an entirely new device + new OS, like the Torch + BB6.
A "leaked" OS is a BB OS that has been given to carriers for testing. Typically all or at least most of these are Release Candidates.

337 leak (even before it was official by a carrier) is far, far better than .246 official...

    1. The weight I think is actually really nice. Doesn't feel like a toy. Plus it balances the device properly with the slider open.

    2. Give the touchscreen a chance. I find I use a hybrid of touch / trackpad / keyboard controls. Also, try adjusting the Touchscreen Sensitivity settings in Options app.

    3. Me too!

    5. I guess I'm lucky that I don't have that issue. My volume has been fine with OS 246, 284, and 337.
My phone problem has been that my Torch mysteriously drops the Bluetooth connection fairly often.

Anyway, I made the same transition as you, and I'm loving the Torch now.

    Congrats on your new device!

Yep, agreed. And way more solid than 284 that came in between too.

You will be waiting a while. Its official from another carrier and works just fine.

1 - Yes..sliding open the phone will UNLOCK it..I'm pretty sure that's factory setting..so nothing to configure.

2 - If you've installed prior .cods from another phone using BBSAK..then yes..you will need to re-install them again using BBSAK. If they're saved on your MicroSD..then no..i don't believe they will need to be re-installed.

You don't have to, if you lock the phone using the "lock" key on the top left of the Torch, when you slide the kb out, the phone will automatically unlock.

9700 was pretty quick and nifty for me...when i received the Torch, I felt like throwing it into the dustbin, it was laggy, unresponsive and just so ******** compared to the 9700. BUT I was determined to make an effort to speed up the device so I did the following :-

    1) Upgraded to .337 (fantastic build)
    2) Removed languages I didn't need
    3) Disabled all social networking apps (twitter and fb)
    4) Removed a STUPID Battery Monitor app that i downloaded from App World (waste of money)
    5) Downloaded "No Transitions" from App World (this is really optional, but it gives you a snappier feeling)

My god, the Torch was completely reborn...it's bloody fast, much faster than my 9700 with more screen area. Surfing the net becomes almost as good as the Iphone. No lags nothing...so for the upgraders from 9700, DO IT! Just spend some time doing the above....it will be rock solid...for now..lol

I thought nothing could tear me away from my 9700 but so far I'm loving the Torch (especially after the .337 update) My hand does feel tired while typing from the weight of the keyboard bearing the weight off the sliding display but I think a sturdier case with a better grip will make it feel more solid in my hand.

Made this same switch today, my 9700 had leaked os6 but it was way too buggy, didn't wanna go back to os5 at all so I decided to get the torch, so far so good 0 probs, only thing ill probably miss is my 9700's battery life.

The volume is also my biggest problem with the torch. Some people say its the browser that really ticks them off, but the volume is almost inaudible in some cases. Something I have to think about in the next 25 days while I can still exchange my torch for an iphone
