    The Torch doesn't support 5.0GHz Wireless N. only 2.4ghz

    Torch have a bigger screen.

    That's pretty much it

+1.. i didn't even get a pager until i was 14, and i had to pay for it on my own

But if you prefer smaller devices, i would save the upgrade for later this year, and go for the bold 9900... smaller device, full qwery keyboard, and a touch screen

if you need it tomorrow, and don't like touchscreens, and do like smaller devices, then the answer is 9780.

    good luck

if you don't like touchscreens I do not see the point to getting a Torch, plus it is bigger and heavier than the bold.

What urgent emails do you have to send at the age of 13?

lol, well my 13 yr old has a torch and 15 yr old. bb's are good for more than just email and i think its even a better thing to see that pre-teens/teens enjoy bb's just as much considering some ppl/sites saying bb's going out of business blah blah blah, apparently not cause our next generation is enjoying them just as well over android/iphones.

these days most teens and even younger have cell phones, times have changed/ are changing.

now back to the question at hand, if you don't like touch screens then maybe its best you get a 9700 or 9780 because the newer models will be touch screen and hope you enjoy your bb whatever you get......(smile)

At thirteen it is hard to walk your own path without the influence of others. The torch is heavy and has a touchscreen. It is a great phone, but if you do not like touchscreens then don't get it. But maybe you mean you don't like touchscreen only phones, in which case then the Torch is still in the running because it has a smaller touchscreen than most and it has a qwerty keyboard.

Best advice is to play with one that your friends may have, or go to the local store that sells Torch and try one out.

The first "cell" phone I ever saw looked like a regular phone that was built into it's own briefcase. No belt clips were provided. yes I am old and my how times have changed.

Omg when I was 13 there were no mobile phones... I remb my first ever phone being the Nokia 8520 with blue light as its background lol. .. Kids these days.. Lol.

9780 would be best imo.. U can handle it a bit rougher and love candy bar phones. Torch is great too but not a "solid" feel sometimes.

As you're not a fan of touchscreens, the Bold 9780 would be your best choice. I own a BlackBerry Torch however. Solid phone, taken a royal pummelling, still works fine. However I have trouble with the touch-screen randomly triggering stuff all the time.
