BB Torch - Volume too low during calls
The volume on my phone is set all the way up. My speakerphone volume is adequate but the handset volume is way too low. I can barely hear the caller. Anybody else having this problem? Any ideas as to how to get this corrected?

Try this and see if it helps. Hit the send button, when the phone keypad comes up, hit the BB menu button and go to options. Choose in-call settings and set the default call volume to 100 %.
You can also mess around with the audio enhancement settings too.
Hope this helps.
IMO the call and ringer volumes on the 9800 are on the weak side. It ain't the loudest BB out there. I have mine on the loud profile all the time. If you try the ringer with the battery cover off, the phone is way louder. I might put a few small holes in the back cover and see if it works to make the volume louder. If my post helped you, please say thanks. - 09-12-2010, 02:01 AM

Tks for the advice. In-call settings at 100% & tried all 3 enhanced audio settings but no change. All my settings are maxed out. Would hate to drill holes in the back. I think u r right, the volume on the 9800 is just to weak.
I welcome any other suggestions u or anyone else may have. - 09-12-2010, 02:15 PM #4
I am usually fine with the volume on my earpiece - some say that .214 has made it louder. Every now and then I have a call where I think it's a little low but then the next call is fine so I have to believe that sometimes it's the fault of the person on the other end and not my Torch.
All I can suggest, though, is trying .214 if you're not already on it. - 10-05-2010, 12:16 PM #5
Hey guys,
Is there anything we can do- software or hardware to increase the handset volume?? I work in many different environments and am sometimes in manufaturing plants. I don't wan't to be that guy that's walking around with an earpiece in all the time
EDIT - I'm talking about call volume - Ringer and speaker are not too much of an issue for me. - 10-05-2010, 12:26 PM #6
the issue I have is the volume playing voicemail back is set to 0 after every reboot... makes it a pain when trying to listen to messages...

There's an engineering screen hack to increase the volume, but that was for OS5, so I have no clue if anyone's tried on OS6 or not...

Your best bet is probably just to wait for a new device software that increases the volume though. Even with the hack it resets after a soft reset so you have to keep redoing it.

Just keep posting about it
They will hear us, and update.

Are we sure it is something that will be fixed with a software update. I do hope it isn't a hardware issue. The speaker volume is really inadequate in a noisy environment.

RIM needs to fix this, its a hassle to have to go to a quiet place when I getl a call. Is .337 any better.
