I see on here about all the people that's having trouble with their Torch phones. I can't believe they have the same phone that I have. I ordered mine the 12th of Aug. and got it the 14th. I downloaded all the apps I had on my 8310. I put Pandora and Slacker on it. Downloaded all my pictures and videos and contacts. I put a 16 gig memory card in it and everything works great. I had my curve for 3 years and really liked it, but man I LOVE this phone. If you don't want it and get something else good for you but don't knock the Torch. It's a great phone....

I think to be honest, it's the American customer policy that allows for 30 days return no question asked has make people return their phone for the smallest non existant issue. If all sales are final and they have to deal with RIM for warranty issues, we should hear a lot less issues because of the process. Since this is such an easy return process, that's why you will see it. I have seen a CB user is in his/her NINTH (9th) Torch, not sure what's the problem, but 9th? This phones is in the millions quantity and having all bad batches going to this user alone, you should just go out and buy a lottery.

One example, if people has lagging issues, it doesn't mean the phone is bad. You can just re install the SW, it should mostly take care of the problem. I had a lagging issue on my current phone, what I did was battery pull 2-3 times, then no problem. People here just want to create issues out of nothing for reasons to own a new phone everyday until 30 days is up.

I agree. Once I installed .161 and got rid of that call quality problem I was good to go!

And I am not even on .161 yet. I have a bit wobble on my phone, I think, the top slider, which if according to CB standards, I should return it right away and get a new phone, but I think it should be OK.

Bad phones, yes, there will be some, but it's like spreading a few hundreds or thousands of bad phones to over 300 million population in USA, and one would get a bad apple up to 9 times? count the odds. even lottery winner wouldn't be able to win 9 times in a row.

The majority of people are not having major issues with the Torch. The people that are or are just not confident in their decision are the ones posting about problems. People that are happy with the phone, as a rule don't post as much about it. It's a great phone, I am very happy with mine.

Don't know how I got so lucky but I haven't had any of the problems listed by users on here. The only problem I had was data quit working and I did a security wipe to restore it and it hasn't happened again. Love My Torch!!!!

ya no one can dispute the "abstract" numbers that one would typically think apply, but when the sales representative puts 4-5 devices on the counter and all but one has the sticky (non adhering?) buttons, then statistics and odds are out the window. If one sincerely wants the device, but there are legitimate problems, repeatedly confirmed by sales people, managers etc, what's one to do? Within the 30 days - regardless of where the practice started - shouldn't we try to get the quality, problem free device that you all have? I have a choice as I type: keep the device I have where the menu buttons (return, end button etc) panel is not fully adhering to the device (evidenced by the sticky/unsticky sounds (like loose scotch tape) and hope the panel doesn't fall off, and if it does go through warranty; or replace it?

+1 here on the build quality. I actually exchanged my 1st one.I didn't need to.
I couldn't agree w/the OP more, and the comment on the American return policy.
I love this device and totally think RIM is heading in the right direction.

One reason that a perfectly working phone not functioning well to some is because they installed/restored all of their previous device's 3rd party applications into the Torch and some of them are apparently not yet working for Torch. I have encountered this problem before..now I just installed what's released for Torch.I have 100% Love now not hate..

This is very true. Meterberry wasn't working for me but it's been working fine since they did an upgrade that was OS6 compatible. Ditto for BerryBuzz.
It would have been incorrect for me to rant about the phone, when it was the software that wasn't playing nice.

It is amazing how you get the lemming effect of owners jumping ship at the first sign of trouble. Some of it could be unrealistic expectations about the device whether it be the fact that it doesn't outperfom the i4 or the Droids or 9700 or 9000. There is also a small minority of whiner babies who expected the Torch to be perfect and returned it in less than 12 hours.

I just bumped up on a few of those posts. Looks like a common theme here.

There are some devices out there like the curve 8330 and the new droid 2 both have one of the lowest return rates. I have the Droid X and its return rate is high due to issues it has that are going to be fixed in this months update. I think if the manufactures could afford to build phones in the US the return rate would be lower. As far as the Torch goes I think Rim is not looking to compete with other smart phones just stay their course. This year will determine if they can recover from their losses and regain their niche in the smart phone world. I personally would have a bb if it did what my X can do or if the torch was on verizon.
