I love it and my iphone buddies can see the difference quality makes. One of them went out and switched to a torch right after handling mine.
Regardless, I have had the Torch since Oct, 2010 and have loved using it since then - really functional and has all the features I wanted - the music player, the video camera, the really good still camera, the fast browser etc etc. Highly recommend it.Patrick from Calgary

I'm 100% happy with mine-I love it. It does exactly what I need it to do and I really can't imagine how I organised my life before I had it (I also watch youtube videos and play games on it!
).
I don't find it slow or laggy at all. I'm on .337. - 04-08-2011, 11:47 AM #58

To the OP;
Yeah I hear where you have the hard decision. To me, the decision was and still is a simple one. I've tried em all and for my person opinion I'll probably be a berry user for life. I've pretty much sported all the berries out there and truly loved them all for what their build were meant for. Even still tip my hat to the good ole pearl for a "light" user. Coming back to your question, I was really hesitant on the Torch but I dove in, I had to return only once because of a faulty trackpad but its been fantastic! I have no issues with it, none! IPhone? Well its good at what it does, embraced by business? **** no, I'm all over the map in meeting in big multiple business. You name it, I have probably had a meeting with them LoL. And they all sport berries.
Bottom line, I need communication and as one poster said here, everything else the Torch does is icing on the cake. I do take vid clips allot and so pleased with it. I could go on but hey, its your call and what you need. Love my Torch, the end.

Loving my Torch & wouldn't switch it with any other phone...some retailers will say that a lot of people keep returning their Torch or sending it out for repair, but to be honest, usually its not the people who really don't know about or do software updates, etc...I think the phone is fantastic and makes my life easier from running my business to personal use

To the OP...
i upgraded to the Torch in December 2010 from a Samsung basic phone, because I was getting texts, and was tired of trying to answer on a conventional keypad. I wanted a phone that would handle texts, emails, and replace my PalmPilot for reminders, etc. I got a whole lot more!
I bought it with .246, skipped .337 and went to .486, then the latest leak. NO PROBLEMS, and each one improved the experience.
FWIW, you have to decide what's important to you. I can't see changing phones for a long time, no matter who adds what "new features."

BTW, I gave up on perfection when I purchased my 1st bag phone.
For me it's style and functionality. If anyone doesn't think the Torch is hot, compare it to other Blackberries- only!! Here's a few of my examples: 8700, 8300, 8310, 8100, 9000, 9700. If you have owned more than one Blackberry, you understand RIMs methology regarding Blackberries. Change didn't come overnight....or based on one device. Lol. Incremental, with additional updates on the "next" device. I think the next two years are going to put RIM in a better competitive position against other Smartphones.

I am 100% satisfied with my Torch. This BB is my third phone going from an 8310 to a 9700 to the Torch. It does everything I want and with the mobil apps that are starting to show up it works just fine and has done everything that I could ask for. I thought the 9700 was great not compared to the 9800 which is super. I have had none of the issues described above.

100% happy. I adore this phone. I've had no issues and it's super fast.

I'd say the MP3 player on the iPhone is superior to the Torch. The OS upgrades narrowed the gap a bit, but you still get the break between tracks on the Torch that you don't with the iPhone.
Generally speaking, I'd say the iPhone is a considerably better multimedia and entertainment device all round anyway. That's OK, no phone is best at everything, and the Torch (most Blackberrys really) is a far better communications device. As long as you base the eventual choice on what's most important to you, you'll be happy. - 04-09-2011, 09:02 AM #69
I have only one issue with my Torch, ie. the Track Pad is spastic. I have tried various sensitivity settings to no avail. Other than that, I love it. I came from a Curve 8310 to the Torch so you can imagine what a change that was.

I have been a BB and iPhone user for some time. I have owned multiple versions of every iPhone made, and my BB list is: Curve 8310, Bold 9000, Bold 9700, Torch 9800. There are features and capabilities I like about both brands, and I truly am split on which one I actually like most.
So far this is what I can say:
The iPhone 4 (imo) is the best iPhone made to date. From form factor, material selection, and functionality. The antenna issue is kind of annoying in areas of low signal, but not an issue when in high signal areas. Also, Apple's push notification system needs work, to say the least.
My favorite BlackBerry to date is the 9800. However, things I do not like about the 9800 is build quality. I do realize it is a slider, and they do wobble but, damn. The wobble makes the phone feel "cheap". The bezel on the top of my Torch is also loose, which is annoying as well. Also, I do love the physical keyboard on the 9800, but as for virtual keyboards, it is absolutely garbage when compared to the iPhone.
Now don't get me wrong, I do love the "hybrid" setup: touch screen, trackpad and physical keyboard of the 9800. I am currently running os .526 and it is super smooth and virtually lag free. Nothing can touch BB's for messaging, hands down. Like I said earlier, it is my favorite BB to date and currently the phone I carry for everyday use.
I hope this helps, and it is obviously just my opinion. - 04-09-2011, 10:26 AM #72
Like it's been said, no phone is perfect but personally, I love it and love showing it off... i have so many friends of mine (both bb users and non-bb users) tell me they would get a bb if verizon or sprint had it... it combines my two favorite things into one phone: keyboard plus a big screen....
The OS is what it is and hopefully with 6.1 rolling out soon some of the lagginess and stuff that some people experience will be done away with... - 04-09-2011, 10:31 AM #73
I respectfully disagree 100% with this... The Torch is my 4th BB (8310, 9000, 9700, 9800) and it does not feel cheap at all in my hand...
I have owned slider phones before (Sony Ericsson w580i) and let me tell u that phone was wobblely and cheap feeling. After soo much use my Torch closes and opens perfectly without wobbling and no part of my phone is loose. I think that might be more of a phone problem with your specific phone.
Again just my $0.02 - 04-09-2011, 10:34 AM #74
It's kinda of an inside joke for 9000 Bold owners. The early 9000 phones' battery cover use to wiggle a little and not close tight so one of the solutions that people suggested was putting a business card under the battery door and surprisingly that worked... GOOD TIMES lol
