Recently installed the new AIM by AOL and immediately saw my battery life cut by over 2/3. The old AIM app had little or no effect on my battery life, I would get 2 or 3 days depending on usage, now I can't even get 24 hours (my phone is always on). Why is this happening, are there any AIM settings that solve this problem? HELP?

No, there are not. If you are sure that AIM is the culprit, then use ARM (Application Resource Monitor) to monitor the consumption and terminate it if it becomes too much.

(Assuming you are on OS 7.1.x.xxx)

You can also delete the application and use one of the other xplatform IM apps.

The RIM AIM app uses push. The AOL one maintains a constant network connection, which drains the battery like crazy.

Use a client that supports push, such as IM+ or Beejive.

Thanks for the input. Upon the recommendation of my daughter I loaded WhatsApp and deleted AIM by AOL. It's funny how developers want to make things better but only succeed in making things worse. Again, thanks for the help.
