AT&T is not in ANY hurry, they are basking in the glow of their new baby-the iPhone 4G.

it will be released after everyone uses their upgrades on the iPhone4 because they were sick of waiting....

A rumor: "an unverified account or explanation of events circulating from person to person and pertaining to an object, event, or issue in public concern"

Seems to me that RIM's marketers would drop the 9800 to coincide w/the "next big thing"....the iP4.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see.......

Really? Where's this come from. I guess RIM doesn't feel a threat from iP4.
Maybe RIM is taking a "I told you so" approach to the crack heads who jump ship for the "latest-n-greatest" iP4, Driod, etc.....
Maybe RIM doesn't feel the slightest threat from the competition.

i bet its more AT&T then RIM deciding the drop date - why drop two devices that will have a big demand at the same time? From a marketing standpoint it makes sense...

Maybe after apple makes enough money on Iphon4.
It will be a month + after Iphone4 release to market.

Same as Iphone4 are released after a month + of HTC Evo 4G.

    Yeah....This actually makes more sense!
Could be Sept/Oct before we see the slider.
Then AT&T will probably hold out till Black Fri.

or, drop two devices at once, with no other competition, and get everyone to get on ATT before other companies have black friday specials.
if people had the choice between a bad@$$ blackberry or a iPone, that would bring in lots of people into an ATT store. and blackberry's don't cost $30 a month just to carry in your pocket.

No way the release dates are that close together for the IP4 and the Slider. ATT will want to capitalize on the purchases of both and not have people choosing between the two.

I spoke with my business account manager on AT&T last week and he mention it will be available on that date.

PG did say there was a bare minimum of what, 10 weeks for testing with AT&T. But if he got his for testing a couple of weeks ago, 8 more weeks would still be mid-August. So it's possible.
