Well I just upgraded my AT&T line for the iPhone 4, but ended up selling it and getting a blackberry bold 9700 instead. If I am going to purchase this phone, I am going to have to pay the full retail price for it how much do you guys thing it will cost without opening a new line or upgrading? Any estimates?

Using the iPhone 4 is an example, if the 9800 will be priced at $199 with a two year contract renewal I would guess between $399 and $499 for an existing line with no additional lines being setup.
Just a guess - YMMV.

Mind if I ask why you guys decided to return the IPhone4? I have some friends who are using it and they love it
Cause they suck! Reception issues, calls dropping, proximity sensor too sensitive.....there's a problem when you have to use a case to get reception. People that are in good service area may not have receptions issues, but I am on the leading edge of 3G......why suffer with a POS device?

Me too. Waiting now for the 9800. The iPhone4 drops calls like crazy. After 6+ years on the BB I'm glad I got the urge to have the iPhone out of my system.

I'm still "evaluating" the one I bought, under the 30 days return it and walk away deal.
So far I've had no reception issues; I do miss the LED light and push mail from our Lotus Notes Server; I can do pretty well at the screen keyboard, especially in Landscape mode; I miss some of the BlackBerry specific apps (BerryWeather for one); the battery life on the BlackBerry and being able to sync with as many systems as I want. Don't even ask me how much I miss BBM!
I do like the iPhone 4's camera (5 mega-pixels is awesome); the apps that are available; the browser and the display quality.
IF AT&T / RIM drop this baby within the next 3 weeks (time remaining until I have to make a decision) I'll have the best of both worlds to choose from: I'm still leaning towards the 9800 - if it's all its cracked up to be. If not - maybe the next Flagship Phone from BlackBerry will win me back.
Prices in Canada are always higher, Rogers and Bell will probably list the price at $699.00 with no contract
I don't think they'll do that again.
the Tour was the Most expensive BB to be released, at $699 no contract,
the 9700 was launched at $599, and with current US dollar conversion I would bet that RIM launches in the use for $549 and Canada for $599.
there isn't as big of dollar difference during the entire build process for the 9800, and RIM keeps it's books in US dollars so their pricing to Canada is a conversion to Canadian, not a price to the US from Canadian. which seems to be a more favourable price for Canadians when the dollar is close.

since Bell is offering no more contracts as of July 1st in Quebec, I'm not sure I'll have to pay as much ( I realise I might have to make up the discount if I cancel my plan but I'm a Bell employee, I doubt I'll find a better plan than my 35% off)
