I am about to buy a torch 9800 from a friend. It has the jvm error. I am experienced with installing a new os on a blackberry as my sig states.
This happened to me with my storm. I fixed it myself. Just wanted to confirm if the same steps are involved here.

JVM error should be able to be fixed by loading the latest firmware again. Have you got the exact error?

I messed up my storm by removing the data cable accidentally before i wiped it. Does the jvm error mean the OS is nuked? . And i got the error after. is there a error number that means potential hardware failure?

Can't recall sorry, it's been so long ago, even with JVM error, you should be able to load your OS again, no?
