    Hi Guys,

Just updated from a 2 year old storm that was running the latest leaked OS to a brand new Torch 9800. Of course I loaded the latest leaked 6.0.0.486. I gotta say this is one sweet operating system and phone.

With a non click touch screen, flick out and VERY solid feeling qwerty keyboard, wifi, heaps of memory, fast and liquid menu operation, good camera and camera features and optical track ball, every complaint I had with my old and loyal Storm is gone. Internet browsing is now lighting fast. Makes surfing the net very easy and enjoyable.

Well done RIM for a fine piece of software and hardware engineering.

Yes, I too upgraded from storm 2 to torch around 2-3 months back. clicking touch use to b problem on storm. some how, I managed Storm-1 and then storm-2 for around 2 years. Torch touch interface is really very smooth and convenient for typing.
i too gone back to .448 hybrid V3 .481 after being around 4-5 days on .486. Null Point java error was also troubling on every reboot but touch interface wasn't as smooth as .448.

I've been running .486 since the leak appear on crackberry, I did 2 battery pull (like I usually do with an upgrade) and then I never had to battery pull again, it's been 4 days now. Where is the memory leak ? I should see it already but my phone still work very fast

There is no memory leak on .486.

And even if there were a memory leak, how bad could the effect be if most people have between 250 and 300MB free after a reboot? This isn't exactly a Bold 9000 where every MB counts.

I've been on .486 for a couple days and am going back to .450 asap.
.450 is by far the smoothest, quickest os I've run.
If there's anything I've learned about bb's though (Torch is my 5th), os's act differently on different devices.

I think in general, .486 and .450 is almost the same. I dont experience serious leaks.

.486 is sluggish on my torch. There's a bit of hesitation at times.
Web pages sometimes don't scroll on 1st swipe.
.450 was awesome. Again, this is on my torch.

Same here. I'm very happy with .486. Everything is a lot faster.

.486 has been superb for me. I do think that .450 was a very good os but this new leak has been what it should IMO and that is good. I woould also have to agree that every OS works differently on every phone. A coworker hated .450 b/c it was slow but .448 was solid for him but I had a completly different experience with .448.

mem leak is small. won't effect your device unless yo are running 50+ apps. Browser speed is super fast and pix lagging is almost gone.

At this point I don't even read comparisons between leaked OS's. For every 10 positive reviews there are 10 negative reviews. Everyone's BB reacts differently. I install the latest and if I like it I keep it. If not I go back to the last one I liked. Just remember it takes at least a few days to adequately judge a new OS. Memory is always better on a new OS for a few days.

I really like the increased browser performance with 486. That alone makes it worth the update IMO.

Other than that, I haven't noticed any significant differences between it and 450.

I usually wait 1-2 days after a new OS is leaked, to watch the thread for hidden "time bombs." From everything I've read on the new OS's, they're all YMMV; many have conflicts with certain apps or themes.

So far, I've been running .486 for four days, and love it. The only inconvenience I had was re-doing my settings in QuickLaunch.

486 battery life was downright terrible, also it had a bug in BBM where you couldnt look up your pics on ur memory card. I went back to official 448 after just 3 days.

I think there' might be more to that bug than the OS... I have no issues doing that right now on .486.

Also I've been running .486 since it released and cannot tell any real battery depreciation. It might be caused by an application or conflict.

That's why i said BBM (blackberry messenger) in conjuction with .486, you need to learn to read a little bit better pal.

Also, same apps i use with 448 (Facebook, Twitter, Waze, BBM, Windows Live Messenger, light web browsing) i used with 486, and the battery would'nt even last a day, where as, with 448 my battery last nearly 2 days.

I do not use this phone for multimedia, i rarely if ever take pictures or videos with it. On weekends i rarely use it, as its my work phone. Its a Telus unlocked torch. I've had no trouble with any other OS before 486. It might just be me.

I'm heading back to .448. Since .486 was leaked my batt drain went from ~4.5% to 6.5%. It doesn't seem to be improving. Everything else seems fine.

I haven't had any battery drain issues...but then I am not a "heavy" user, and try to always shut an app off when I'm not using it. I'm charging the phone after three days use, and usually have 60-75% battery at that time. I DON'T leave the 'phone on all night!
