Default Is it possible to make a theme that accepts widgets?

I was looking at the crossroads theme by TAT, which allows you to swipe let or right to select different home screens.

And I was wondering, what if instead of the Zune style menus, could it possibly support little widget like graphics for things such as Twitter, Facebook, Email, Weather, etc?
Even better, what if the theme could support plugins, so you can add your own (very lightweight) Widgets to the theme?
Or at the bare minimum have a bunch of prebuilt "widgets", with the ability to choose which ones you want and where on the homescreen.
The theme would probably sell lots before RIM offers to buy it from you.

Is this possible?
