Hi -
I am stuck trying to find the correct file.
I am not sure that my OS is loaded on my PC, since I can't find the .alx file.
How do I make sure the OS is loaded?
Such a newbie question - sorry!

Well the OS is loaded when you load the OS. If you don't remember loading it, then it's probably not there.

How do I load the OS?
Is it part of the desktop manager? or do I load it from the device to my PC? Alltel likes to keep its secrets and the documentation that came with our Blackberrys is pretty lacking.

I just cannot get it to work.

Can't find the Loader Files to even start the process.
Thanks for your help.
I guess I will wait until someone builds/sells a Zen or Today theme.

You should follow this path on your PC to the files:

C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/Shared/Loader Files/8800-v4.2.1.74_P2.3.0.54

The last folder will be different of course and correspond to the OS you just installed.

If that doesn't work, run a search on your PC for blackberry.alx

Thank you for all your help, but things are still not working.
I think that it is possible that Alltel hid the .alx file.
I tried doing the search and it still comes up with "not found".
There is no file labeled C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/Shared/Loader Files/.
After accessing the C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion it goes directly to four files named appload - modemdriver - rimdevicemanager - usb drivers, can't find anything in any of those files.

At this point, I am giving up. I'm sure that at some time I will be able to purchase the themes I am looking for.
Hint hint to all the theme builder people out there

You might want to make sure that your PC is not hiding the files.

Well, I don't have an 8830 to say for sure, but I'm guessing if there's a blackberry.alx file in the OS, it can be modified.

Thanks for all your help.

Once I started using a Zen theme, I've never switched back to anything else

I'm getting exactly the same problem with my installation. I installed the Desktop Software from the UK Vodafone CD but after uninstalling that using the link to the Alltel site, i get the same problem. Have 4 folders but not the folder thats been specified.
