Default Where did the storm 2 go?

I was just wondering if anyone knows what's going on? I just went to the vzw site and the storm 2 is no longer in the line up. Did verizon quietly get rid of it?

It has been discontinued. The 9850 Torch is its replacement.

Default If you want one...

first post is right - it is phased out because V believes it will be hard to sell with the new Torch available. They do not want to get stuck with inventory, so will keep some for warranty replacement.
If you really want one (tho I would recommend the new Torch 9850 bigtime), it might be possible to get one at a store - check around. Even cheaper would be to get one on the CB selling thread or eBay.

The Storm 2 was such a staple of the that company a few years back, but it has fallen to the wayside. RIM is hesitant to touch the device, the apps like card readers don't have support for it.

The Storm 1 had issues however, the 9550 has been a well performing device IMO.

I agree. I enjoyed my 9550 right up until I acquired my 9850

same here. I miss my 9550 surepress screen though. I find myself making so many typo's on my 9850... I think the storm 2 had a much more precise screen... and the fact that you could click it to make selections so you don't accidently select stuff you didn't mean to. I often find the torch screen to be WAY too sensitive in this regard. Barely brushing the screen will select letters and stuff... it's getting REALLY annoying when you're trying to type one handed. But that's about the only gripe I have with the 9850.

But the 9850 is nice. I really hope that Berry does well. So sleek and great specs.

Surepress had its detractors online, though I never really understood why. I agree with you taht the touch vs click option was an advantage ! But sadly it is gone.

I'll sell you my just-retired CDMA (Verizon) Storm 2 for $100.

In the year since I got it (as a warranty replacement for an earlier one), it has lived in an Otterbox impact Silicone case, and under a screen protector. It is in great shape.

My contract with Verizon just ended. I briefly considered getting a Torch, but ultimately purchased an iPhone 4s. I'll throw in the well-used Otterbox impact, and of course, the charger and USB cable.

It could be that they wanted to kill the Storm name - on the other hand, they spent so much on advertising it that this sounds illogical to me...

The S2 looked WAY nicer than the Torch 9850. It was so unique looking.

I may go back to the S2 simply because the 9850 has crappy call quality and things like the headset stops working after a while, battery sucking, and other weird issues...

The device is far better in terms of cpu and etc, but if it can't handle simple things like music and typing I may go back... Crazy, I know.
