Yes I have done some hands on testing of friends' devices. I have used Droid, Droid2, and the Droid X. My biggest issue with these devices is the poor battery life and keyboard options. The Storm2's keyboard is the best typing experience for a touch screen hands down for me. I can almost type as fast with it as I can on my Curve the first time I used it.
The Droid's physical keyboard is terrible and while the Droid2's is better the screen blocks the top row of keys too much for me. I could probably get over the differences in email and know I would love the change in browser speed but data entry and battery life are too big for me to get over until this improves with Android devices.7250 -> 8703e -> Curve 8330 -> Storm2 9550 -> Bold 9930 -> Z10|16GB Playbook -

Where has it been confirmed that the Storm 2 refresh will be out in October? I am betting it won't be out until the holiday season at the earliest. My Curve is beat to **** and I need another device soon.
The only real draw to waiting for me would be the improved wed browser but I don't really even use the browser that often but maybe I would if it loaded faster. Pages seem load at a decent speed over Wifi on my wife's 9550 which is when I would most likely be using it anyway.
If it is coming early October that would factor in to my decision though.7250 -> 8703e -> Curve 8330 -> Storm2 9550 -> Bold 9930 -> Z10|16GB Playbook - 09-15-2010, 04:43 PM #28
I upgraded from the "original" Storm to the Bold 9650. I was worried about the screen size since my vision can be somewhat of a problem. The screen clarity on the 9650 blows away the clarity on my friends' Curve 8350i. I have had no issues what so ever and am totally pleased that I made the change. I really liked my Storm when I used it and had no problems with it (I know - it wasn't a Storm 2), but I certainly do not miss it. I now type just as fast, if not faster, and more accurately on my Bold.

I got Odin on launch day last year. The device which is very nearly glued to my hand throughout most of the day is the very device that the BlackBerry stork delivered almost a year ago. I dressed him in an Otterbox Commuter, and he has grown to a full .713 OS. I have had NO problems with him, and I LOVE surepress. That's just me...
Not sure if I'd use my NE2 on the S2 at this point, though. As others have said, the S3 should be around the corner...some corner, and it is very probably going to be worth the wait. If, though, you feel the S2 is everything you need now and WILL need, then by all means.Odin...1015 - 09-16-2010, 01:26 AM #31
That^^^
I got my S2 in January and it's been flawless ever since.
Having said that, if I had an upgrade now I would wait one more month. If the Storm3 is not out by then, there should at least be some concrete dates set for release.RIM is dead. Long live BlackBerry!
