Storm2 Screen Occasionally Unresponsive

Evening all. My Storm2 has had the problem of the screen becoming unresponsive from time to time and more often lately.

The side buttons (calendar and web browser) still work, but when I try to use the touch screen, it won't 'click' and doesn't highlight anything when I hover over it.

When it happens, if I pull the battery it comes back working just fine. Other posts seem to suggest that its a software problem. I was running the most recent 'appalachain wireless' os and today I wiped my phone and put the official verizon version on (5.0.0.1015) but its already done it twice in the past 4 hours.

Any thoughts? Trying to milk this thing until the iPhone 5 comes out later this year...

It seems like you've done everything that you can. It is likely at this point that it is a hardware problem. You could try un-installing some apps, as one may have become problematic.

You could also try deleting your text message and/or email.

the 9520 / 9550 has a mid-section chassis that has 4 select buttons, one for each corner of the LCD ....Sometimes a select button might have gone bad, could also be the "touch" itself, but judging from what you're telling us, I would check online ( prolly EBAY ) for a mid section ribbon assembly for the phone ... OR take it to a repair centre you can trust

Thanks for the info. I cracked my screen almost a year ago, it looks like those are available on eBay too and I presume (please tell me if I'm wrong) that if I'm changing one, I might as well change the other.

Any good DIY guides you can recommend?

Alright, found the youtube videos and I'm almost ready to order. I also plan to replace my cracked screen since I've already got the thing apart.

Can anyone tell me the difference between these two items? I guess I don't understand the difference between "LCD with Touch Screen" and "Touch Screen with Digitizer" Same Seller, $5 difference in price?
