Looks like that's the case.
I am sure that if you are just upgrading then your tarrif will stay the same.
They might be able to adjust a tarrif for you. Maybe loose some mins or texts.

Just called vf now to query about upgrading and the girl I spoke to said they cannot do any upgrades or pre order the upgrades for the phone yet.
She said it was only launched for new customer pre order and when they get a release date she'll call me with prices and tariffs that are available for upgrading existing customers.
She didn't sound too sure in what she was saying to be fair but it does make sense that they can't upgrade to a pre order phone yet... Just sounds like she added me onto a waiting list.
The waiting game continues... At least they're no longer denying its existance ha.

Says on this site that it should be free on £35 on a 24mth contract but on Voda's site it's only on £40 - A definate answer on this would be a great help before I rush into it.
Vodafone has today launched the BlackBerry Storm2 device which now features Wi-Fi connectivity - Mobile News

Just checked the site again after clearing my shopping cart, and it is free on £35 a month on 24 month contract - 600mins & Unlimited text - extras - Unlimited Mobile Internet and webmail & BlackBerry Internet Solution. Doesn't state you get free BlackBerry email though like all the other packages - weirdLast edited by MZone; 10-15-2009 at 06:20 AM. Reason: UPDATE

Questions for Voda users?
I'm a t-mobile user, whats the Vodafone service like?
I'm thinking to switch but I'm still not sure. I certainly don't want a monthly £35 2yr contract
If possible I was hoping to wait and do one of those upgrades through Carphonewarehouse, where I can select the phone I want and still stay on my t-mobile contract. I assume I'd lose out on my free t-mobile upgrade this way though, but as long as its not extortinate I dont mind.
Do Vodafone handsets come heavily handicapped? meaning pre-loaded with a load of Voda apps/services that can't be deleted?
Is free bluetooth tethering simple to do on Vodas?... Its very easy to set up with my t-mobile and my mac with *unlimited internet.

Just noticed if you watch the little flash video on here
Blackberry Storm 2 - The Storm2 9520, exclusive to Vodafone
it still shows the storm not the storm2 lol guess they didn't update all of it over night - 10-15-2009, 06:45 AM #16
Maybe wait and see now... i'm guessing if they're losing exclusivity quickly the price plans will probably change and come down in cost. I would imagine...
I certainly won't be entering any 2 year contracts. It's absolutely ridiculous. Technology changes and advances so quickly and i'm sure in a year there will be many better phones out there than the S2.
If they don't budge with my contract upgrade offer I won't be upgrading to it on a 24 month contract, that's for sure!!http://twitter.com/mistergaga

well, i aint getting it unless the price drops.
Vodafone are robbing us - £40 a month is the cheapest on an 18month deal,
thats a deal braker for me, it wouldnt be worth buying out my O2 iPhone contract, to go to an even more expensive one.
Very disappointed - was really looking forward to this phone.
£35 was the acceptable price - bumping it up simply adds another £90 to the price.#
and to add: Vodafone dont mention a 16gb card in any of their webpages and contents....Last edited by csj85; 10-15-2009 at 07:30 AM.

Nov. VZW release
Oct 26th for Vodafone, so if they follow last year's schedule and VZW was 1 week behind, that puts VZW releasing on Monday, Nov 2nd ! That might also explain why there's still no release date from VZW, which I would expect to see in another week.

Just been into a Vodafone store and they say that thay don't have any instore.
The Preorders are for new customers only.
If you are due an upgrade expect them to be in store 2 to 3 week after the pre-release date.
She did say that keep checking instore as it might be earlier.
She did also say that if you upgrade via the website, they might appear on the system.
As of today thay are only shown on pre-release.

I wouldn't pay that.
But I suppose if you want something enough then you would pay for it.
I am upgrading so I expect my tarrif to stay them same
If they change it they will have **** to pay.

As a Storm 1 user I have just been told by Vodafone Ireland (storm carrier) Customer Support that they have no plans to release any new blackberry's this year including the Storm 2. They said the newest phone they will be pushing this side of christmas will be their own Vodafone 360 Touchscreen phone !! WTF !!!! So basically Irish customers will have no chance of getting the New Storm2 9520. What a load of Boll*x
