Thumbs up Storm 3 petition

I hope the QNX superphone is the Storm 3, because the storm is a great phone. I know storm 1 had it's downfalls with all the bugs, but we need ta understand that storm 1 was basically a prototype for blackberry's touchscreen market. Storm2 solved those issues and is the greatest BlackBerry to hit the Market, and the sure press tech helped BlackBerry differentiate itself in the touch screen market. Sure press guarantees that you press what you want; it's like a mouse you scroll where ever you want with your finger & press the screen which resembles the click button on your mouse. We need to petition the Storm to come back ASAP because that’s the only phone I want in the BlackBerry line up since having one, & no other blackberry Compares, trust me I've had other BlackBerry's before the Storm. Making the first QNX phone the Storm3 with sure press will be the best thing BlackBerry can do to take back the marketshare they've let slip into Iphones & Andriods hands. If you truly love your storm because of the facts I've stated & more sign this petition to take to RIM's & CrackBerry's top excutives so they know what we, the loyal customers want

I vote no. I like surepress as well, but just don't think it will happen. It was tried and I think it was a successful attempt.

But RIM will move on from surepress with the new phones, as they have already with the Torch Touch 9850. The "mechanical" surepress feature will fade away I'm afraid.

I liked surepress, but to me in many cases I felt like I still made more typing errors because of the quirks of the touchpad/sensitivity (even with adjustment) than I would've made with a real keyboard. That being said, I would be interested in a new Storm3 (with surepress) if it had some horsepower under the hood and eliminated some of the problems that persist with the Storm2 (namely the input lag).

No fan of the surepress.
I find it a chore to type.
Sorry fans.

Good Luck

I loved the surepress but IMO the entire storm series was a complete nightmare! I would buy a surepress phone in a heartbeat!

I never owned a Storm, but I've been around long enough to know that the majority of those that did do not feel that it was a success. The Storm line gave RIM a bad name, and is the laughing stock of BlackBerry.

The Storm line is gone. This is clear because they named the 9850/60 Torches, not Storms. Let's let it die a nice quiet death and move on to bigger and better things.

Great!!! Are you going to front me the fees to move on to bigger and better things like a real phone then? It is now less than a year from now, for a no cost swap out replacement for my Storm 2. My Storm does die frequently and I resuscitate it with "Blackberry CPR" via a battery pull... only a few more months...

Agreed 4 more days to go for me. Not that I'm counting or have any idea where I'm headed, just the fact that I know I can move on from a blackberry is a nice feeling. It was a decent blackbery but RIM lost me when they didn't upgrade it to 6.0 and made me feel like old news on a flagship device.

Let it just go away a Storm 3 just seems like a terrible idea to me.

I have had my storm 2 for 1 1/2 years now and I still like it a lot. Don't love it like I once did, but I do like it. Am I ready for a 9850? Absolutely! Do I like surepress? You bet...I would entertain a device that has it in the future for sure. But a "regular" touch screen device like the new torch just sounds refreshing at this point.

I always thought SurePress was a gimmick and am glad it was finally dropped, however, I feel the 9850/9860's should have stayed in the Storm "family tree". Putting them in the Torch line makes no sense. The Storm brand name deserved a chance at redemption .

It wwould be nice if they did offer a surepress blackberry, even if it was just a modified Curve 9380.

That way RIM could sell it unlocked without a contract from their website or retail stores, and it would only be about $300 instead of $600.

P.S. RIM: please differentiate between AWS devices and regular devices by a number - such as 9900 vs 9901.

I couldn't take surepress seriously until I had a Storm2. It was an original and creative idea, I respect it more after using it. It is however a chore compared to normal touchscreens, and at times seems to confuse things, like say if I wanted to go back and edit a sentence in this very paragraph. I am equally capable of fast typing speeds on both touch and qwerty. If you choose to type out anything that is several pages long, you definitely feel it a lot sooner.

I suppose I have to agree with some of the others; it is gone and failed in the market for a reason, despite the ingenious benefits it does provide. I imagine that if it hadn't failed and effected them the way it did, RIM would likely have tried to improve on it and give it new life.
