Default Storm 2 UK

hello,

With the storm 2 out on vodafone over here in the UK, was just womdering how long they have the exclusive rights to it?

My upgrade is due now and im with orange, my 8900 has conked out on me so im in desperate need of a new blackberry. i know the 9700 is 'coming soon' to orange but do prefer the storm 2

so anyone know of any news on the storm 2 on other UK networks?

thanks

there are a couple of articles lurking around online which say that the exclusive period for voda id only a few weeks long. but i have no proper evidence to back that up with. Does anyone else know anything?

I'm in the same boat. My 8320 is showing signs of stress, and I'd prefer the Storm 2 to the new Bold. Not heard anything concrete, but one article mentioned Christmas, so my Curve may have to hang on a bit longer!

yeah ive seen a few articles saying that voda only got a month with the phone spoke to orange and as you would expect they don't know anything but im hoping before the end of the year! my 8900 has conked out my 8320 is on its last legs lol and i dont see much difference between 8900 and 9700 to justify the upgrade at the moment

I've had two versions....

A guy at Vodafone UK told me that they have the rights to cover over Christmas.

A guy from the e-forum team said they have the rights up to the end of January so that the other networks can take over from 1st Feb.

Either way it's looking like it could be early next year (sounds ages away but it's not really)

I'm not sure if T-mobile and Orange are going to be getting the Storm 2 though ???
I'll try and do some digging and report back......

Thanks for the info, looks like it'l be longer than expected, i hope it does come on orange as im more than happy with orange and they would offer me good upgrade options. if i went over to vodafone id have to get my pac number to transfer my number over and oh yeah no orange magic numbers then! lol

I'm with T-Mobile and my up-grade is over due. I have the bold and T-mobile now have the bold 9700............I'm tempted but would really like to try the Storm 2.

I'd love to know if T-mob plan to have it soon...............I'm getting really impatient!!

Anybody know anything??

Probably not in Vodafone's interest to give out exactly when their exclusivity ends, as they hope it will persuade people to jump networks. As Orange have the best coverage where I live, that isn't going to happen. So for now it's a case of keeping an eye on the 'Coming Soon' section on the Orange web site

Like its been said the exclusivity that Voda have for the Storm2 will last a fair bit longer.

Personally id just change networks and go with Voda if you really want the Storm2...if not then your other bet is to buy it offline or off ebay, good luck with ebay, i wouldnt personally buy a phone from there.

Ive seen one place here in the UK selling the Storm2 without a contract but its locked to Vodafone for about £400...you could get it unlocked.

Id be surprised if any other UK networks pick up the Storm2...

Hmmm doesn't sound too good for a release date in 09 I just find it easier with orange plus they would give me a cheaper contract with an upgrade rather than being a new cust to voda, I'll see how long I can cope with my 8320 if not will just have to go for the 9700

Thanks for the replys guys. The problem for me is that T-mobile are the provider of choice where I work.................I just don't want to go for the 9700 and then see the Strom 2 become available soon after and then I've got to wait another 18months. If only I knew!!

Decisions decisions??

Nothing, it's all gone quiet. Mind you, it's been out on Voda for less than a month. And Orange are only getting the Bold 9700 out at the end of this month.
