Help! Intermittent "Cannot connect. Call in Progress" error when trying to make calls. Also, calls won't ring in when this issue is going on. Texts will come and go, and I can connect with a browser. I can reset by 1) taking battery out or 2) turning all connections off and then trying to make a call (but not by disconnecting and reconnecting through connection manager).
I've been through two phones already, 4 hours with Verizon, 3 backup and restores. A restore of only contacts through Google Sync.
I believe it is related to a "Java.lang" error, but don't know what to do.
Any suggestions.

| | S2 Reboots on Touching KYBD during Call Answer
Answering a new S2 call and clicking the screen keyboard can cause lockup, reboot, and of course, loss of call. Call record intact after reboot, including voice mail. Has only happened twice. Never with 1 year of S1. Best to SLOW DOWN when call comes in and gingerly touch nothing before a couple of rings. Reported to VZN. Got phone directly from VZN by FedEx.
In my view, this is an OS handling of the new fully integrated KYBD and 4 main keys. Have seen other bizarre things, but this MUST be fixed in the new release, pronto, as it is a deal breaker for VZN.
I guess it COULD be related to VZN call ringing/sequencing, etc., but this is not likely.
My left convenience key is the Virtual KYBD. My right is Vlingo. These were the same for a year with my S1.
I am using a home-grown custom screen using Theme Studio 5.0. However, as with Plazmic 4.7, I have never knowingly touched the call answer screens.

| | The Answer to all your questions
DONT BUY THE STORM 2, IF YOU DID RETURN IT FOR SOMETHING ELSE. No but seriously, I really find it hard to believe this is turning into the same issues we had with the S1. Did RIM really not figure it out yet? And if there is issues that can be fixed with an os update, why havent they done it yet. I mean come-on look at the Droid for instance. Its been out less than a month and they are already getting an os update, and earlier than what was expected. Plus they already announced another major update for it next month. **** even that fruit company phone(sorry I cant bring myself to say the actual name) puts out timely updates. And sorry to say its not a VZW holding up the updates, its RIM. Thats obvious with the quick updates for the Droid. I just wish they would get it together and stop with the disappointments.

| | Ditto!
I have the exact same problem, replaced it once already due to 'send' button malfunction, and it is driving me crazy. I'm in downtown LA area, and the signal bar fluctuates from no bar to full bar continuously, even when the phone is sitting still in one spot. My guess is it's a software issue, and RIM needs to get on it ASAP. Other than that, though, I love my S2.

This is an AMAZING free phone. AMAZING!
This is a mediocre $80 phone.
A colossal waste, and downright rip-off at nearly $200. It's almost a crime. It's a hodgepodge of a disaster.
I don't care if it's a "Business" oriented phone. There is absolutely no excuse to have such a failure of an MP3 playback feature, for this long no less, in anything. When you can fit hundreds of songs on something the size of my thumb, it blows my mind that the incompetent fools at RIM can get something so wrong. (That's just my immediate blaring example. There are many others.)
I'm keeping it and dealing with it because it's free. I probably would've returned it at 50% off. I would've set it on fire in a paper bag of my own fecal matter and gently set it on their front door if I paid $180.
They get what they deserve.

[QUOTE=malik2k1;3947015]I've found that a lot of the screen issues are minor when dealing with button presses. If you find that a button isn't working properly, lock the phone and let the screen go dark and clicking will be disabled altogether. After a couple seconds, unlock and your clicking problems should disappear. It's a hassle but I'm sure it'll get fixed by the next firmware update.QUOTE]
Brilliant! I admit, when I read that, I thought "ridiculous, too simple" - but my clicking problem is definitely better after locking the screen! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

| | S2 Reboots while talking via Bluetooth...
My S2 reboots every 2-3 minutes while I am talking/connected via my car blue-tooth. After the reboot it rarely works (only the red status light remains on and nothing on the screen - I need to actually do a battery pull to bring it back to life.
Anybody encountered this issue? Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I don't know what you mean? What problem is there with the "failure of an mp3 playback feature?" I have over 1000 mp3 songs on my 16 gig card (they take 2 gigs) and they play just fine. I've found the Media Player to be very capable and puts out great sound over ear plugs.

Yesterday was day 30, so I'm now on phone number 3 (I figured at least it can't hurt to have a brand new phone). I had them only activate the phone ("clean phone" w/ no data transfers). I'll start putting info on one at a time to see if I can find out whats causing it.
Side note: The VZW store rep suggested that the Wi-fi should not be on at the same time you are on the Verizon network. I'll try this out if the new phone starts acting the same way. (my other storm 2 works fine with them both on at the same time, so I'm reluctant to believe this is the issue)
Thanks again.
