Storm 2 with a fresh os would be an IPHONE kILLER!
Odan with that screen and a fresh os would kill the iphone maybe that's why rim seems relax and doesn't seem to be scared of all the other phones coming I think they have a lot more tricks to show us and they seem to b showing them at the right time

Yeah the S1 was supposed to be the "iphone killer" as well. Odin we be a great touch screen blackberry, anyone looking for anything iphone like may be disappointed.

I still prefer the storm1 over the iphone let alone a storm 2.

I know thats right PK!
The thing is, this phone is actually pretty acceptable. I mean meh....the surepress wasnt really what it was originally intended to be, but its still a great phone.
Even now the Storm1 has arguments to speak over the iPhone.
The thing is....the BB storm "Odan" may not obliterate an iPhone just because of iPhones strong hold on its fans.
BUT
The Odin IMO with a great OS will definately be a better phone overall than the iphone. I mean alot of the arguments are getting fixed.
RIM seems to be "slow" but when they fix something they fix ALOT at once.
I have no doubt in my mind that in review with the Odin against the iPhone3Gs, the reviews for Odin will win. Simple as that. Anything with revolutionary technology as advacned as the Odins screen in the world of BB is definitely going to have a huge impact on the publics idea of what a good phone is.
This Piezoelectricity deal has never ever been done before. Most people have never even heard of this technology.
I definitely think that this phone will be King of Phones...simple as that.
Its not always about whose more popular.Last edited by Card Storm; 08-23-2009 at 11:20 AM.

Uhm, punctuation? I have no idea what your post said.
But your point of this thread about the S2 being an iPhone killer, is just well sorry to say, silly. There are BILLIONS of cell phone users worldwide. One new phone is not going to kill off another brand. The market is way to big for that. If there were only 100 cell phone users on the planet and 2 phones to choose from then a phone could be labeled a "killer". But a new BB is not going to stop people from buying an iPhone or cause millions of users to switch from an iPhone. There will still advantages of an iPhone, just like there will still be advantages of a BB.Last edited by Shao128; 08-23-2009 at 11:59 AM.

Who cares about the darn iPhone? Its like buying a xbox compared to a computer...
Sorry but while the iphone does some things very well (google maps) the rest is not done very well.
The Storm 1 has its issues and I would argue most are "user" issues, the storm 2 sounds like it will be a nice next step. - 08-23-2009, 11:59 AM #13
Hey dude! I'm a human being with the ability to read a paragraph even when it's not fully punctuated. Guess that's just me.
Anyways....I highly agree with you about RIM. Everyone claims they sit on their *** but I tell what this is like.
This is similar to the entertainment business.
When an artist such as a singer or movie producer comes out with a new album or movie, you usually dont hear from them for a while afterwards.
is it because they quit producing movies or singing?
NO. Its because they are human beings, and it takes a while to work on your next project. And most people arent going to disclose what they are working on.
This company isnt powered off kryptonite.
The Odin with the OS it will release on will be a product of RIM actually working on this stuff since Storm 1 Came out.
Think they just popped out with an odin with Piezoelectric technology in a few months before its release? Highly unlikely.
And Apple will probably go quiet for a while after Odin and reap success of 3GS, then they will come out with their next project.Last edited by Card Storm; 08-23-2009 at 12:01 PM.

When these phones go to tester rim and other companies know they will b leaked they hid this from us for over a year

Still looking for the super secret Odin OS eh Card? LOL! I highly doubt its happening. Why send out Odin units with a 'fake' OS for testing and do what with the real one?
You're making the same mistake many people did with the Storm 1 just because its a touch screen BB doesn't mean RIM are going to give it a special flashy OS.
I expect the Odin to be a fast stable touchscreen BB. Nothing more.Device history: 8100 > 8320 > 9000 (brief) > 9530 (Ugh!) & 8900 > 8220 > 8120 > 8520 > 9550

I wonder how Crackberry was back in the day when it wasn't full of people comparing every blackberry to the iphone, and where it was indeed "The #1 Site for Blackbery Users", not the "let's have these fanboys invade a blackberry-devoted site and listen to the blabber"
It's like going to some Christianity site and preaching the word of atheism. - 08-23-2009, 02:36 PM #18
Well I dont really think its going to be flashy. I mean more of how the software will interract with the new hardware.
I dont think RIM will give us a flashy OS until storm3. But I do think that there are many software additions that have sprung up due to major hardware additions. The fact alone that this phone requires electro statics to react means that a seperate OS had to be designed for this phone. I just really dont think they are going to put the same OS on storm 1 as storm 2. They will be similar. But the Odin has slightly different capabilities now with Wifi hardware induced as well as peizoelectricity. - 08-23-2009, 02:45 PM #20

I like the few advancements I have seen coming with the Storm 2 so far. I believe that anyone comparing this product with the iPHONE is still stuck in a nonsense arguement for no apparent reason. People need to realize that the iPhone's OS is not what is making it better, it is the fact that they made a "pretty" UI for that OS to draw the non computer literate individuals into buying their product, once 5.0 plazmic is released and we see some 5.0 leaked beta's with a little less bugs, people will realize that the storm can have just as pretty of a UI, The only real edge Mac has on RIM is the fact they are not using a Java based OS, rather just a peice of Mac OSX. If rim releases the new browser that is being hinted along with Flash compatability and silverlight, we are already looking at an iPHONE killer, it is inevitable that RIM will have pinch-zooming and flick-scrolling up the road, it's just a matter of when. I honestly think the only thing that RIM should do differently with this new phone besides what is already been hinted is to release a larger screen. This is just my opinion based on facts that I have researched so far. I will be purchasing the Storm2 regardless. Besides, Once microsoft releases their smartphone, we all know iPHONE is dust. (LOL, I'm sure this last comment is gonna touch a few nerves)

Storm 1 = not the Iphone killer
Storm 2 = not the Iphone killer
Storm 3 = not the Iphone Killer
Storm .............you get the picture
Palm Pre = not the Iphone killer
Nokia whatever = not the Iphone killer
Any phone released = not the Iphone killer
RIM, Verizon, Voda, Crackberry, no reputable source ever called it that. It was the Apple guys who started that because they saw an opportunity to try and hype there Iphone. Guess what, it worked. They are 2 different beasts. They both do similiar things but yet they can both do different things. They are both PDA's and they are both phones. Both of them have there strong points and the both have there weak points.
I really wish people would stop saying that.

You are absolutely correct, I was not meaning the name, I was meaning that the things I described above your comment will make the Storm 2 a worthy competitor if not a superior product. It is just easier to use the term iPHONE killer due to the way the term has been mass spread since it was first heard

The Storm, or any blackberry equivalent, will never be the iphone killer. Their market share is way to big to worry about killing anyone. Sure the iphone is getting a lot of attention from the business world. But to be honest, when you have blackberries on literally any cell carrier possible, I don't think you have to worry about beating a phone closed to a handful of carriers.
Blackberry and the iphone, is just in way too different of categories.
Yes, the iphone can do a lot of the same that a blackberry can and vice versa. But in the end, if you need a smartphone and want to subscribe to any network available to your budget, country, area, etc. you can always easily go for the blackberry. Heck, you even can get a blackberry in pay as you go plans, and push to talk.
That is way more than enough proof that blackberry doesn't need to worry about killing the iphone. It might take a hit because of its popularity, but in the end, some people just need to use there phone to schedule shipments and meetings.
